Anyone who has a talking bird can tell stories of the conversations they have on a daily basis. This wasn't much of a conversation, but it was kind of funny.

As I was making myself a scrambled egg sandwich, I hear Jewel in the other room saying "here you go - yum, yum". I took that as a hint that I was taking too long to get hers to her, so I took a spoonful to her. Then she said "hot?" and I assured her that it was just fine to eat, so she tried some and said "yum, yum".

Anyone have some talking bird stories to tell?

So I'm making one of those expensive, weekend runs to the emergency vet with my cockatiel, Eby who has a gash between his nare and beak. And I'm trying to stay calm (the bleeding had stopped) and keep him calm by talking to him. His travel cage is buckled into the passenger seat and he's sitting on the perch chatting away. I stopped at a light and he moved over towards me and said "Eby wants a drink".
I replied "Help yourself, there's water in your cup".
So he climbed down and took a sip of water, then climbed back up to his perch, close to me.
"Eby wants a drink".
"Well, Eby just had a drink" I replied.
"Eby wants good coffee".
So we stopped at McD after the vet visit and got Eby a cup of joe. I had to; he ASKED!

LOL - well, I certainly hope that isn't a regular part of his diet - but its a funny story.

Hope he's ok after his accident.

Coffee is more of a warm bath than a beverage to Eby and Amy. Eby just likes to ask me if I want a drink so I'll take a sip of coffee and say "yum, good coffee".

Eby's accident was Amy related. She's hot-to-trot and chases him without mercy, resulting in a crash. No stitches, just some antibiotics and a time out from his lady. Just scared mommy bird big time!
