Lisa -- even though I am a nightie woman, the polar bear pjs do sound cute. As for washing flannel, I wouldn't think it would matter too much if you washed cotton flannel as long as the water wasn't hot but I sure wouldn't put them in the dryer. As a rule, I never trust anything that's cotton not to shrink in the dryer. In fact, I rarely put any clothing in the dryer whatsoever, only towels, socks, sheets, etc. The dryer just wears things out and shrinks them. How about you?

Nicola -- what is the emergency that would require the wearing of 'jamas?

I'm one of those that gets tangled up in a nightgown.

I'm a bad tosser-turner, and everytime I've ever tried to wear a gown I wind up with it trying to coke me to death. Even flannel or cotton pjs aren't too good for me - I really need those slippery things (I'd say satin or silk - except it's the fake stuff, LOL). My husband and I even had a fight over the sheets - because he likes flannel sheets in the winter, but I can't stand the feeling of tugging when I turn over.

In the summer it's just one of my husband's white cotton tees and panties.

That's why I like the soft fabric gowns, like thin cotton or some silky type, so you can just slide around in it. It helps, too, if you get a fuller gown that will not bind you.

I agree with all you ladies on the 1940's style, I have purchased a couple of the same style on the Amazon site for my wife. But my all time favorite style would have to be like the link here:BellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. Mm, I love long silky nighties with lace bust and shoulders. I also wear silk French knickers to bed and my girlfriend finds this fantastic.

I wear PJs in case someone knocks at the door and I haven't changed or for when one of my children has a problem in the middle of the night. That way I don't have to go rushing around to find a robe. You know, I never keep my robe in the same spot... It's upstairs when I need it downstairs or downstairs when I need it upstairs.

Lisa - I have almost that exact same black nightgown and when I feel down, I put in on, drink a glass of wine, and watch old movies. Perks me right up. I even had boudoir pics in tasteful gowns like that years ago and the photographer thought I looked like Susan Hayward. Fun.
