My friend has just found out that she has a fallen uterus and is quite scared. She is only 41. Is this normal or abnormal?

Sometimes the round ligaments that hold up the uterus can get very weak, and the uterus will fall. Depending on the doctor, your friend's age, health, and gyn history - they may decide to repair the ligaments and put the uterues back in place, or go ahead and do a partial hysterectomy (leaving the ovaries in nfor hormone control).

The condition itself is not terrible dangerous, but it can be painful, because the uterus really pulls on all ther other muscles and ligaments. Then if there is a tear - that can cause a hernia, and it does start getting more dangerous then.

Just encourage her to follow Dr.s orders and take it easy.

Hi Tracie,

I didn't have a fallen uterus, but I did have another uterine issue which was cured with acupuncture. If your friend is interested in alternative medicine, the Chinese have been curing things like a prolapsed uterus for thousands of years.

Here is a good website, should she be interested:

Thanks! I am not really sure how the accupuncture and herbs would help as I am not familiar with this kind of treatment in general. I will pass along both your comments.

I know just what you mean! When I was looking for an acupuncturist for my uterine problems, and she said she used herbs, I thought it sounded corny. In our culture, herbs are used for seasonings and novelty teas. How could they help with a serious medical condition? But, there are some seriously powerful medicinal plants out there, that affect the body in multitudes of ways.

My periods had stopped over ten years ago, and the doctors could find nothing wrong with me. Then I got fibroids, and all they wanted to do is cut me open or give me a shot to stop all hormone production, which would put me into an 8 year long menopause. No thank you!

Well, I took the leap into acupuncture (after it had cured my "incurable" IBS,) and it turns out that the stopped periods were caused by stagnant blood, which was related to the forming of the fibroids. I began the treatments and the next month my regular periods started up again, as if they had never stopped. I have some normal cramping, but no PMS.

The fibroids are slowly shrinking and the pain is controlled, as well. In my stomach issues site, I write a lot about how all of our organs are connected to one another, and even physically communicate with each other along specific nerves. What acupuncture does is stimulate these communications, in essence, and get the organs and blood aligned in a healthy way. This includes weakened internal muscles that cause a falling uterus.

Anyway, I hope this helps!

Oh, yeah...and the herbs are usually processed and formed into pills. I thought I would be drinking tea all day or something!
