Thanks Chloe! And good job on the bike and weights. Wallpapering can be a great arm and core workout too... I did a yoga DVD tonite that was very tiring (breath of fire - jeeeeeez!), so about 90 minutes (although a lot of that was chanting) and an intense core/arms workout. I have found I am not a power yoga fan. I like my yoga smooth and slow, the better to calm my mind. I can use running or the treadmill to get a sweat going. But for yoga, I like it to help me discover slow strength, balance and flexibility.

That sounds like a good thing to discover, Jill, what combination is perfect for you! And it is also great that you have an open space for yoga - I think we all really do much more when it's "right there" vs when you have to lug and move things to get started.
Today is Friday meaning our DVR should have recorded two separate Qi Gong tracks this morning. My son is here and was up all night with Metal Gear Solid so I'm hanging out with him - once he eventually goes to sleep I'll go down and try out my Qi Gongs and write them up!

Tonite I did a 51 minute yoga DVD to review. it was fun but not as enjoyable as my Shiva or Barbara Brenagh DVDs. I reviewed ir in the yoga forum - Elements Yoga for Beginners.

That's great that we chose awesome ones to begin with, and your research is bearing that out I never did try the Qi Gong - by the time he went to sleep I was sleepy too so I just watched Sense & Sensibility. I'll do the Qi Gong today!

How did I even find that first yoga DVD? I think I searched on Amazon and read reviews. So it goes to show how important those Amazon reviews are and how people really do use them to make purchases that are important

I'm inspired by all those of you who prioritize daily exercise. There is so much to do with our work, our kids, our marketing, houses, gardens, schooling and more writing work, it dismays me that I can't do everything!Nowadays families and friends can't even find time to keep up with each other.
I do usually manage a 20 min walk with shopping - is this enough? It would be interesting to hear how you all manage to blend in work/writing with home and exercise. How on earth do you do it lol?

Siobhain, the basic need for aerobic fitness is this rule: At least three times a week, not more than three days apart, for at least 15-20 minutes at a time.
So if you are doing your 20 minute shopping walk without stopping, three times a week with no more than 3 days between walks, you are in there! The next thing is to try to add little extra exercise points all across your day. Park further out when you do errands, taker stairs instead of escalators, even for a few floors if not all of them. House cleaning, if done in chunks of at least 15 minutes absolutely counts. Vacuuming is a great workout, for example. So is gardening. Or washing all your mirrors and windows - what a great arm workout! Or sweeping and mopping and counter wiping, etc. Also you can add in physical play with your kids - dog walks, hikes, play frisbee, go swimming...kids are the BEST excuse to get physical activity in your day - you are multi-tasking. And it's better for both them and you to be doing active play whenever possible. Go climb trees! Do a yoga DVD together or a tai chi class. I know we have a ton of posts about this kind of thing in various places but this is the gist of it.
