Well the 'coon killer stated 'coons were pests like mice and there were too many in the world....

You never know what the legal ramifications are nowadays.

It sounds like they need to develop a cheap rabies test!!

Ah good point Lisa!!

I killed a few mosquitoes recently. It really didn't bother me but i did think about how that isn't exactly right action.

Well, as ever the debates rage on... some say it is a kindness to let them feed, as they can't help being mosquitoes... others say thsy carry disease, and should not be allowed to bite....

Me.....?

Ok, ok....

I swat them.

Sorry, but I do.
However, I wish them a speedy re-birth into a better existence, because I reckon being a mosquito, really sucks.....

I agree that they can't help being mosquitoes - but they have plenty of other things to go and eat.

We can't help being humans, but we can choose what we eat too smile

By killing off the human-eaters, we help to ensure that mosquitoes as a whole only have "animal eating" versions reproducing, which would end up being better for mosquitoes and better for humans too smile

This thread puts me in mind of my ladybug problem. Actually they are lady beetles, an invasive species from Japan, and in he early fall my house is swarmed by them. Last year I had hundreds on my bedroom ceiling. I'm already wondering how I can get rid of them while squeaking past the "not killing" thing! :P
Normally I just suck them up with the hoover...

I kill mosquitoes as soon as I see or hear them. I get huge welts when I am bitten by one and then I scratch until it bleeds, seriously its no fun. I feel absolutely no remorse or guilt whatsoever for doing this. I also kill fleas, ticks and flys whenever they invade my living space.

Try to remember that mosquitoes because of their disease (malaria) spreading ability are the largest single killer of human beings and other animals on the planet, millions of people die every year because of a mosquito bite. Ticks carry Limes disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. In the middle ages fleas were primarily responsible for spreading Bubonic Plague which killed 60% of all of the people on Earth, yes I know they were just trying to be fleas!

I don't go out of my way to kill things, often while hiking in the mountains and desert I have come across rattle snakes and tarantulas and I have let them be, but it seems ridiculous to me to not kill something that is trying to harm you in your home.

If you feel that the killing of any living thing goes against your religious teachings maybe you also think that we should bring back the smallpox and polio viruses. Hey they are just trying to be viruses...

Ah, but those are already eradicated - so technically not in danger of us "killing" them.

But for the sake of argument; you could always bring up HIV or the flu. grin

OK,I better leave now before I get into trouble...
