You know, Chloe, I'm always surprised that any of Tyler Perry's movies are popular. My husband is much more of a fan than I am. However, he has an audience. There are people out there who like a predictable laugh that comes from the gut, and Tyler Perry provides that. I do admit that I have laughed involuntarily a time or two even though I could see the punchline coming. It's like a reflex :-).
Also, House of Payne is on TBS. Shows on the cable networks seem to last longer because it doesn't take a huge audience to be considered a hit. I believe the show pulls a 4.3 rating which is probably enough to keep it on the air.
