He does sound like a neat guy. And it's interesting how he's another one like Kearney who was born quite before his due date. Precocity sometimes starts in utero!

Hmm.. that blows my theory about how my ds stayed in an extra week because he was smart enough to know when he had it good -- nice and warm in the winter, no work involved in keeping warm, eating, digesting (okay, other than amniotic fluid), etc.

LOL! I had a mix of early and late babies, but all were within normal parameters. Good births too, though terrible pregnancies.

Ms A, don't forget that he didn't have to make his bed or clean his room!

Our son was a week late according to conventional picking of the date, but really right on time (as I had long cycles back then, unlike after having an ovary removed and bumping up to an every three week plan). My labor started on a Sunday afternoon and didn't end till early (very early) on Tuesday, though, and I felt like the kid was hanging onto the umbilical cord for dear life (so to speak), going, "No, I'm not coming out! I like it here! I'm going to call this place Hotel California, where people check in, but never check out!"

Meanwhile, I was getting security to have him evicted (not that I had a C-section, but I pushed him out in 17 minutes once he went from being a Cancer to a Leo as I felt enough was enough and when you start crossing zodiac signs during the labor, it's enough!).

Ah -- another long labor. Labor began on Thursday evening (though I was clueless, and didn't realize it...) and I swear ds was shooting for Sunday, but with a bit of prodding (they broke the membrane for me, since I got to 7 cm and nothing -- and that speeded things up a bit) he was still on Saturday. So he could have actually been a day later.

My son is actually the 13th sign, but that isn't generally recognized today, and is firmly in his zodiac sign. (They used to be 13 unevenly spaced signs, and today, because they lost the astronomy aspect, are 12 evenly spaced signs. My Scorpio brother only had a 9 day window to actually be Scorpio. Can't remember from the class whether he made it or not.)

Glad Hotel California finally closed -- that would be one LOOOOOONG pregnancy!

I think I only got to 6 cm when they broke my water and hoped that would have me progress more, but I didn't, so then the midwife began manually dialating me (yes, she stuck her hand up me and used her fingers to keep stretching me farther and farther open...she learned how to do this 20+ years prior in England). Had I been in a hospital, I would have been labeled "failure to progress" or "pelvis too small" or whatever and been C-sectioned (especially as my state had a 30% C-section rate for first births that year, the highest rate of any of the 50 states).

So I guess our son was trying to keep the door locked, too!
