This article was first published when I was editor of the Business Coach site, so if it seems familiar, that's why. But, Meg has her own take on the theme--she chronicles a typical week for her. I still get questions about just what I "do" all day. So, here's a sketch of one of my days. Working from Home - A Day in the Life I'm a consultant, so much of my time is spent with clients or the PC. How does your day differ?

With homeschooling and evenings reserved for kids' activities (Little League and dance class), I only get to work from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., when no one is awake (hopefully).
The most difficult thing for me is stopping work. I feel like I'm just getting started when everyone else is coming down the stairs. I could easily work 8 to 12 hours a day on my online stuff.
But even though we don't have a dog, the routine is fairly similar. Substitute teaching for your daytime work hours and that's my work-at-home life!
For me, it definitely beats the cubicle lifestyle, I must say.
:-) Cate

Yes, my work-at-home day is like yours Cate. Early-rising is a must for me in a busy household, work, education, garden, business, writing etc - luckily it comes easily to me as I'm a lark.

I fit it in whenever I can. My husband is luckier because he can focus on work and not stop for kids when I'm home. He does work long hours and works hard. Working from home doesn't mean soap operas and lazy days - often you end up working more.

Tell me about it! Our situation is a bit like that too! How are the other projects going? I'd love to do another really creative WAHM activity - like sewing homeworking LOL - just wish I was talented at it!

As a night owl, if I had to get up early to work, well, let's just say it wouldn't happen. But, I did start my business while still employed by working at home in the evening/night.

Deb, there is a book from Amazon, advertised at the bottom of that article - 200 Home Based Businesses - or something like that. Have you read it? Iwas just deciding whether to order it or not.

Lynne, I read the first edition of this book. If you want to just do "brainstorming" type reading, this and other books like it are great. I find new ideas in them all the time. This book is sort of like a huge collection of the articles you'll find in my Business Ideas section, which are essentially brief descriptions of what a particular business is about. In other words, this book is a "beginning" for people wanting to have a home business but just really don't know what they want to do.
