Did anyone read the feature in the June issue of More Magazine, "I'd Never Get Botox...and Other Beauty Lies?" I just finished reading it, it is a great article. Has me wonder though how many people do get Botox and not share their beauty secret with others, not even their husbands? Would you keep this a secret? I don't think I would be able to, especially my husband. Thoughts?

I would say, if you're going to do it, why not say so? After a while, people would be bound to guess anyway.

There's something about having needles stuck in my face that always put me off, so guess I won't be getting it-lol.

I'm more for trying to stay young looking through good diet and exercise and then letting nature take its course.

I agree - I definately wouldn't come out and just tell everyone but I wouldn't hide it - especially from my family and close friends! I couldn't imagine keeping that kind of thing only to myself like some of the women in the article, I would want to tell someone!

I don't know if I will be getting it either, I feel the same way you do! LOL!

Green1, the needles are not the only part of that particular "beauty" treatment that makes me nervous. A dermatologist friend of mine told me that there were many more problems with botox than are being reported.

In my town, I've found it pretty easy to spot the people who have had botox treatments. Even if the botox-ed areas weren't obvious, usually the collagen injected lips are tell all indicator that people are making trips to the doctor which makes you look for signs of botox and other procedures.

I'm not going to say I'd never get nipped, tucked or injected. I stay out of the sun, try to eat right and exercise and the plan right now is to age (as slowly as possible) with dignity and try not to panic.

Do the rest of you really feel that pooched out lips and frozen foreheads make people look better? I wasn't born with lips like Angelina Jolie and I've accepted it. I try to do the best I can with what I have and keep going!

I imagine there are many more problems with many beauty treatments like botox than are reported.

Where my mom lives in Oregon, they can't even get a dermatologist to take regular skin care patients, such as those with skin cancers. There is one dermatologist for almost the whole valley and he even goes over to the coast one day a week. All the dermatologists on the West Coast apparently want to go into more lucrative beauty treatment type businesses.

It can take up to 3-4 months to get an appointment there as a new patient. If you have a serious skin cancer, that could mean death.

msbaby - I don't think that pooched lips and frozen foreheads make people look better - I too was not born with Angelina Jolie lips and have also accepted it, I plan on aging the way I am supposed to. I think that is what is so interesting about the article I read, women are doing this for themselves and for no one else but at the same time they are trying to look as if they are aging naturally because they aren't telling anyone their secret!

I am afraid of needles, but if i did botox or something i would totally tell everyone. I think it's fascinating. And it's no more a shameful thing than telling people you got a backrub, or bought a new purse or shoes. smile

That is a good point and I agree that it is fascinating. I was completely fascinated by the whole article, did you read it?

I haven't read the article, but if I was going to get Botox I wouldn't care who knew.

Not going to happen though. The only needles I would have voluntarily stuck in my face is acupuncture. I've had that before and it was quite pleasant without any pooched lips afterwards.:)

My mom used to talk about getting Botox, so I had her read the article over the weekend and she said the same thing - she would not care who knew - people would just assume it anyways, they know what she looks like! She is too funny!

I have never had face acupuncture before - does it hurt? What does it feel like afterwards?
