I'm creating this post as a permanent sticky to feature prominent or unforgettable people in this universe that are inspiring, beyond and in some way actively changing our existence for the better. And seeing as how what we take into ourselves is a sort of food - these be some tasty, beautiful souls!
Human Rights is an issue of immense importance, but lets face it. It's easy to get inundated with all of the ways that the world is floundering - so to present a balance, it's equally important to showcase all of the people that truly make this world a better, more interesting place.
Feel free to post whomever has personally inspired you, and in the coming months, I'll introduce you to some of the people I personally find enthralling.

Cross Carl Sagan and Madonna and what do you get? According to Time Magazine, something along the lines of Dr. Fiorella Terezni. She's beautiful, brilliant and sings like a cosmic butterfly. SHe's also a recognized master in her field, holding a Doctorate in Physics from Milan. Her books on Astrophysics and the sensual universe are bestsellers. And she uses the stars (literally) as her symphony, for the lass has invented a technique which converts the radio waves from stars into sounds. And all while wearing the perfect red lipstick. Fiorella is my kind of girl. Dr. Fiorella Terenzi

Humanity transcending its biological limitations through the applied use of AI? You betcha. The oracle of AI, Ray Kurzweil, covers paradigm shifts, biological evolution through technological applications /and/ collaborates creatively with Stevie Wonder. As a cyber artist/poet/musician, I'm endlessly intrigued by the brilliant minds behind the toys I play with. Further, he also features one of the most insightful (and readable) sections covering Molecular Nanotechnolgy of our time. Ray Kurzweil For double bonus fun, try playing around with his AI creation 'Ramona.. Ramona

Between Consciousness and Psychotropics, covering the joys of everything from Charles-Bonnet Syndrome to DMT, Moses and the Quest for Transcendance, it's Cliff Pickover, this months' 'Human that is Good Enough To Eat'. He is the only author I read that publishes at least a book a year that is worth the reading. His topics are vast and range from Edenic Apples to Human Consciousness. From Higher Beings to Parallel Universes, nothing is off-topic or uninteresting when filtered through his electric kaleidoscopic mind. Start with his Reality Carnival here. Cliff Pickover. Popcorn for the Soul.

My living heroes are Lisa Shea, FlyLady and Cesar Milan (the dog whisperer - he's taught me more about myself than any self-help book author).

My Dad - who truly loved me unconditionally
My Brothers and Sisters - Always there for me no matter what.
Whoopi Goldberg - for me she is very inspirational, I saw her on a talk show (probably 23 years ago) and I can't remember her exact words but she was talking about how she lived before she became famous and it made me realize at the time my situation is only temporary, keep trying it will get better and it did.

My 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Stiller from Faith Elementary, NC. I think her first name was Gloria. When ever I think of reading and writing novels, she is right there in my mind still giving me books that we couldn't afford back then.
I really wish she knew how much she inspired me. Maybe someone who knows her will see this.
My Great-Grandmother: She took me in as a child and raised me as her own, even though she was in her late 60's. She taught me everything I needed to know about patience and being a good person.
My Grandma: She was as fiery as I am and learned to be humble. I'm trying to follow her example.
