I realize that this is a thread that was started a while back, but I'm a newbie so I had to reply!

As a person who has been through an eating disorder, I can say that, for me, it is not something that just goes away. One person wrote that it is like an addiction and I believe it is in a sense. I have been "recovered" for several years now, but when put in a stressful situation or upsetting event, often times my first thought is "Well, I'm just not going to eat." I have to acknowledge that thought and remind myself that is not a healthy response to stress or sadness or whatever the current emotion may be.

And I agree with what Brandi wrote: "I must become the woman I want my daughter to be." For those of us with children we must make a conscious effort to model healthy coping skills and a healthy lifestyle.

I could go on and on, but I will spare you! ; ) If anyone would like to pm me to discuss further, I welcome your thoughts and comments!

All the best,
a.d.
