This week wasn't a big week for releases, but here's what we got:

Ashlee Simpson "Bittersweet World"
No one seemed to care that this was coming out. Upon listening to it, I can see why. I liked her first album, I even have seen her live twice and had a lot of fun both times, but this time... save your money. The short review is it sounds like a wannabe Gwen Stefani. Just buy Gwen's record.

Scarlett Johansson "Falling Down" single
Yes, the actress! She's releasing an album soon, and the single was just released. The album is apparently all Tom Waits cover songs. Her voice is raw and full of angst. It's very slow and eerie. Waits' version is more soulful and bluesy, this version is just eerie, in a good way if you like that kind of sound! No matter what, it is interesting... so we'll see what little miss Scarlett turns out in due time.

Elvis Costello "Momofuku"
I haven't had a chance to give this record a listen, but wanted to let you know it's out!

Just wait for next week with releases from Madonna, Dwight Yoakam, Portishead and more.
