I just came across this forum and wanted to stop in and say hello. I work as a registrar in a museum and was wondering how many other museum professionals are reading this forum?

I'm not sure how the state break down between how many people WORK in a museum and how many are just MUSEUM VISITORS.

Either way, this forum is pretty quiet! Glad you stopped by!

What is your favorite kind of museum?

I like to see ones that have a lot of Hollywood in them. I would really like to go and see the Smithsonian salute to TV.....and someday I will.

My favorite is definitely art museums.

I used to live about an hour from New York City, so I was pretty spoiled by great museums. When I moved to Missouri I didn't go to the St. Louis Art Museum for 8 years because I was sure it would be very disappointing. I could not have been more wrong! I walked through that place with my mouth hanging open the entire time. They actually have one of Monet's Water Lilies ! And one of Degas' Ballet Dancer Sculptures! And an El Greco! and the list goes on and on.

So if anyone is in the St. Louis area and has not been there, by all means go to the Art Museum.

I like both history and art museums. I work for a historic museum. Would it be okay to start threads that deal with working in museums? I didn't know if this was a forum just for visiting museums or not...

The museum I am involved with is a local history museum in Virginia. Where are you located?
