I was wondering how everyone feels about the new format on GL?At first I thought it would add to the show but now I feel they are overacting. And the sound quality is no good. I know the show won an emmy for being the best but I think they shot themselves in the foot when they started this format.

I find that I don't watch the GL as regularly as I once did since the format change. Plus what is it with all these scenes outside!!! Nothing about the change is flattering to the characters, and the filming seems to be poor quality--poor decision whoever thought of this!!!!!

There are times when I like it and then there are times that the person holding the camera must be having a grand mal seizure.

The plot to me still seems like its suffering, but that was going on before the change in the format. It seems there are alot of missed opportunities for drama. Part of it might be that they keep dangling Philip but never produce him. The actor who played him is working behind the camera on As The World Turns and has been quoted as saying he hasn't even been asked to return.

I worry that Guiding Lights day may be numbered at this rate.

I like the scenes outside. I used to wonder why more soaps didn't get "real".

I guess I more listen to it than see it - I have not noticed the seizure parts.

Personally I could live without seeing shots of Harley's falling down house and the inside of her garage! I agree the quality doesn't seem that good.

Some of the outside shots are good, like the Spaulding mansion, for instance.

I'm getting a little tired of Harley mourning for Gus tho! Also, beth's dilemma about who to be with, Alan or Rick. Alan is a snake and Rick's a nice guy. Also, who does she love-if either of them? It's kind of a long drawn out thing over nothing, IMO.

I agree about them dangling Phillip but never producing him.

I read somewhere it was cheaper to film this way. They are losing money, one reason Gus left as they would not pay him enough, they are cutting paychecks, etc. This was a last ditch effort to save money. I will watch it, but prefer the filming of the way it use to be.

I keep watching it too, esp since I DVR it and have it on while I fix dinner. Don't actually sit and look at the TV while it's on.

They've been threatening to cancel various soaps for 15 years since women don't sit home and watch anymore like they used to. It's hard to get the younger generation hooked on them.

Still, what will they put on in the afternoons? Other channels have movies and old TV shows, and they already have talk shows, etc for several hours, so no matter what they do, it won't necessarily give them more viewers.
