Inspector Morse, from a series of books by Colin Dexter.
Why? Hmm. I think because he and I have a similar personality. We are both somewhat moody and we keep to ourselves, therefore I can relate. Plus: he has all the intelligence I wish I had.

Inspector Lynley is my favorite. I love both the books by Elizabeth George and the TV shows on Mystery.

Even though I'm not being unique I'd say Sherlock Holmes as well. I love the relationship between Holmes and Watson. There is a also a certain childhood nostalgia to the books since I read them as a child/teen. I also enjoy the descriptions of place and scenery in the books. I'm a sucker for descriptive writing.

I've always liked Lord Peter Wimsey from the Dorothy L Sayers novels. And I love Poirot!

Piorot is so great and funny, especially how he sleeps! Talk about controlled body language!
