I was doing research for another thread on abortion and came across this statistic. Apparently 12% of the US population is African American - but 35% of the abortions are.

What do you think of this trend? Is it because African American teens are more likely to engage in sex without contraception, so they are more likely to end up pregnant when they do not want to be?

When I look at statistics of abortion by marital status, with caucasians, 78% of the abortions are from unmarried women. With African-American, 84% are from unmarried women. Also, *twice* as many percentage-wise are under the age of 15 (which is scary in and of itself). So a lot of very young African-American girls are getting pregnant. It is no wonder they want an abortion.

Do you think this is a tragedy that we are "getting rid of so many African-Americans" as some researchers are saying? Or is it more an indication that we need to do a better job of raising African-American women to respect themselves sexually, to have a future they want to aspire to, and to give these teens access to inexpensive birth control so they can choose when they wish to get pregnant?

OH, those statistics and the manipulation or pure lies of them, take your pick.

Yet, I love this

Maybe, that's what should have been said to Norma McCorvey 'Roe vs Wade.' Abortion has been the least of the ailments in the Black community.

But, I guess now that it appears, as if it's not the white woman's disease, then it's okay to say, we just need to do a better job of raising them to respect themselves sexually.

White women & white teenagers get caught up, make bad decisions/mistakes and for centuries and decades. Blacks they aren't respecting themselves sexually. What a crock of you know what.
