My MIL finally took the dog to the vet yesterday.

I guess he didn't make too big of a deal about the aspirin she ate since it had been more than 48 hours since she had ingested them.

However, she has some sort of infection in her ears which is why they are swollen and fevered. She is now on some antibiotics and has some ointment for inside the ears.

DH was over there yesterday and he said that she was looking a little better than she did on Wednesday. He, and I, are still furious with the in-laws though. It was totally out of line to not seek medical attention for her right away. Like some other posters have mentioned, if it would have been a kid, they would have taken it to the E.R. right away. Grrr.... I still don't know how my in-laws managed to raise their children to adulthood.

Thank Goodness the dog appears to be out of any danger now.

Hopefully the in-laws will learn something from this, but as they say, "you cannot teach an old dog new tricks"

Phew! I am relieved to hear that the dog is okay. I just hope your inlaws care for its ears as they should. Wouldn't want the infection to spread or become worse. But at least we know she isn't in any danger from eating the aspirin.

What a relief. I'm so glad the aspirin didn't cause any harm! I do wonder how long the ear infection had been going on...but am glad in any case that they did get the dog to the vet and she's on her way to recovery smile

I'm glad the dog is okay. I think people do that with their own health, too... wait until things get bad, and then they get help. Infections and heart attacks don't happen overnight!

Glad to hear the puppy won't be hurt by the aspirin! Hope the infection clears up. They're a mess.

if a human takes to much asprian it can cause ringing in the ears caused by swelling and fever in the ears..... I have no idea if that would happen with a dog but....just thought I would through that out there!
