"When Bahullh proclaimed His Message to the world in the nineteenth century He made it abundantly clear that the first step essential for the peace and progress of mankind was its unification. As He says, The well-being of mankind, its peace and security are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.

Hi. I do not know much about the Baha'i faith except that he came out of a deep dark pit of prison with enlightment after receiving a message from God and he became a messenger of God.
An excellent source on the Baha'i Faith can be found at:

Thanks Phyllis for your post and welcome! It is true that Baha'u'llah was in a prison in Teheran when as He says "The Breezes of the All Glorious were wafted over Me.." ...this was in a pit actually or a well which had one opening and no provisions for santitation.. Prisoners were kept there in complete darkness and the stench was unbearable. The prisoners were awaiting execution. Baha'u'llah had the galling weight of chains on His body that left their marks on His flesh for the rest of His life.

It was in such circumstances that Baha'u'llah received a Divine Mission or Call this was in 1853.

About then years later on the banks of the Tigris outside Bagdad Baha'u'llah declared that He was the One awaited more publicly to some immediate members of His family. We call this time of year Ridwan or Paradise (April 21st- May 2nd) because that's when Baha'u'llah began to proclaim Who He was... God's Messenger for today.
