My hairdresser has an AWESOME flat iron. You run it through your hair ONE time, and it's stick straight. Does anybody know where to get a flat iron like that one? Or does anyone have any suggestions of really great flat irons? I'm trying to grow out a perm, and it's gotten to the point where I need to flat iron every day, and it's hard to do that with my current flat iron, because my 9 month old son bites my ankles while I'm trying to...well, do anything in the bathroom concerning hair or makeup that lasts longer than 15 minutes.

I use a CHI Tourlamine Iron and a CHI Ceramic. They both get to be about 475 degrees and I only pass through clients hair once. It's a great iron.

Retails for about 200 dollars though.

Jase is right on the money. Chi is the gold standards of straightening irons and they are expensive, but worth every penny. I would buy the widest one that you can afford unless your hair is only an inch or two in length for the best results.

I love my CHI ceramic flat iron, but it cost me a lot less than $200. It's not very wide, but I like it because (unlike the wide ones) you can use it to do waves, big barrel curls, flips, or to get a nice curve to your bangs. This is the one I have, which I bought at a local beauty supply for $135:

My hair is very thick and curly, so I have to section it small anyway. In my case, the wider one wouldn't really help me do more hair at once.

I have a Remington ceramic straightener that I really like. It wasn't too pricey either. I just remember when I was shopping around for a straightener that it had to be "ceramic" because that apparently makes a huge difference in protecting the hair and getting a really smooth finish.

I like the Chi iron but there other good flat irons. One is GHD - more expensive than the Chi and I found that it works faster.

notice I said retails for 200ish. You can get them for "our" price if you know a cosmetologist who will get you into a beauty house or if the beauty house is open to the public.

I like GHD's as well Lynne.

BTW.. Happy Birthday

It's true, Jase. My friend owns a beauty supply/salon and she actually got me mine for $95, but I believe she said she she sells them for $135. (That's why I quoted the $135 price.)

Happy Birthday Lynne! This is the first time I've seen the little birthday cake icon on the forum. How cute.

if she gets it for 95, it would sell in the salon for roughly 190-200. So you got a nice deal ;0)
