Sorry for the delay...work had me stay a day longer & here I am being called in a day early. I at least have time to get this done so here we go!
This was the ROH event Supercard of Honor III. If you've seen the previous two, you know what to expect! If you haven't, you MUST check out some incredible shows. The first had the original Dragon Gate Six-Man that blew everyone's mind away & won the Wrestling Observer's Match of the Year. It also held pieces of the Colt Cabana/Homicide fued as well as the main event of Roderick Strong vs. Bryan Danielson for the ROH World Title. The second had an insane cage match to blow off Jimmy Jacobs vs. BJ Whitmer as well as another Dragon Gate Six-Man w/ different flavor.
Here's the show.
1. Delirious vs. Go Shiozaki
Two wrestlers I can't get enough of. Go is definitely a future star & is the protege of legendary Japanese wrestling Kenta Kobashi. & homeboy can chop like the rest of them! An awesome match that worked around Go hitting the chop on Delirious. Tons of hard hitting action & very fun since Delirious was apart of the match with Go not knowing how to react.
Winner: Go w/ the Go Flasher
2. Bushwacker Luke, Alex Payne & Dingo vs. Sal Rinauro, Kenny King & Chasyn Rance.
Another fun match. Dingo is someone to keep your eye on for rising up the roster in a year or so. As mentioned before, I really enjoy the YRR as they fit their characters. There were some really solid double & triple team attacks by the YRR. I still can't get over wwe dropping Kenny King.
Winner: YRR after a springboard spin kick by Sal
3. ROH World Tag Title Match filmed for ppv.
Davey Richards & Rocky Romero (NRC) vs. Jigsaw & Ruckus.
This was a short match but was very exciting as the building really wants a title change! Jigsaw showed a different side as he brutally attacked Davey later in the match. The highlight was definitely a double coast to coast somersault kick delivered by The Vulture Squad.
Winner: Davey Richards & Rocky Romero
Larry Sweeney came out after the match which brought out Roderick Strong. This also brought out Erick Stevens to begin the next match.
4. Erick Stevens vs. Roderick Strong for the FIP World title.
These two have had quite a few matches before & honestly...I don't know if I can watch them anymore. If you ever want to shut someone up for saying "wrestling is fake", this is the fued you use! Erick is Roddy's student & that doesn't mean either hold back. Just an insanely brutal match that is up to par w/ some of their other matches (FIP's Redefined & ROH's Sixth Anniversary Show for a good idea). Great match, but I'm scared for their well being.
Winner: No Contest as both men attacked the ref
5. Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe in a relaxed rules match.
This was a brawl that went all over the building. The Briscoes are definitely crazy & the Age of the Fall brought more crazy out of them. Some highlights include a mini trampoline used to do a dive, chairshots, getting booted while riding a road case, a dive off a baclony onto a homeless dude on a table & an rediculous finish. Forget "hardcore matches", this is it!
Winner: Jacobs/Black after Jacobs reversed the Doomsday Device into the End Time (Front guillotine choke)
6. BxB Hulk & Shingo vs. Kevin Steen & El Generico.
This was simply amazing as BxB Hulk did his whole entrance. The only way it would've been better is if he had the women he usually does. Basically he just dances like it's some backstreet boy concert. Sounds gay, but it looks really awesome in Dragon Gate w/ all the lights & girls. Plus he's a great wrestler, so who cares? Another great effort by both teams. Steen says some really entertaining things during his match & Generico is such a talent. Very fast paced match w/ lots of action!
Winner: Shingo & BxB Hulk after Last Falconry by Shingo (I believe?)
7. Austin Aries vs. Nigel McGuinness for the ROH World Title
Great match. Nothing else really needs to be said. Two of the best wrestlers in the world going today. Hands down. Watch their Rising Above match before this one.
Winner: Nigel McGuinness via rebound Lariat
Again, the Age of the Fall try to recruit Austin which again brings out Tammy. But wait, Austin chooses Lacey & walks out w/ her? Rain (who accompanied the AOTF this weekend, better known as Peyton Banks) attacked Tammy while she was being held to be saved by the Briscoes. Fans chanted triple threat afterwards...hmmm.
8. Ryo Saito, Dragon Kid & Cima vs. Genki Horiguchi, Naruki Doi & Masato Yoshino.
This is basically the same match as the original, only Genki switched places w/ Cima. This match will blow your mind away! I thought it was better than the first! There was tons of fast paced action with some really great submission moves & slower paced action in between. It really is a breathless experience to see these guys move. I wasn't too huge on Yoshino at first because it seemed his big thing was running the ropes REALLY fast, but he's seemed to grow as a wrestler since 06. These guys stole the show & proved why they deserved the main event spot. Too much action to call!
Winner: Doi gets the pin after a wheelbarrel piledriver.
Final: Possibly their best double shot yet! Others who are HUGE wwe fans have said this was better than Wrestlemania. I missed Wrestlemania, so I can't comment, however, I've seen other Wrestlemania's & this show blows them away when it comes to pure action! Big match feel, crazy brawling, high risk manuever's, exciting chain wrestling; this weekend had it all! Expect the dvd's out around May time. They went into production early, so it could be as early as April 20th or so. Hope this helps you check out the best wrestling product in the US.
