Ha! That's where you're wrong. Lots of people believe they CAN have everything. Morons.

What bugs me is... did this freakshow use any insurance company's money to get this done? You know, increasing the rates for everyone else who has a legitimate medical concern, like, oh, I don't know... cancer, heart disease, etc.?
If so, that sickens me.
Simone de Beauvoir dismissed motherhood as, "...'a strange mixture of narcissism, altruism, idle daydreaming, sincerity, bad faith, devotion and cynicism."

Well, after this man gives birth, good luck getting your manly figure back. He's going to need it. You know, a lot of crunchy granola types would insist that after pregnancy and childbirth, the man will have all sorts of identity issues, since he/she will magically be transformed into a MOTHER- talk about a hormonal nightmare!

Hi everyone, I think no matter what ultimately, he is stil a woman. And I feel he may feel even more gender confused after birth, and I also agree, I think if they can spare that child of knowing the full truth, It will have a good life. But if it finds out in say the tweens or teens. I think that the child will be hurt.(full truth meaning that Dad was once a woman/had you when she was a man) Mary Caliendo Tea Editor

I don't know about the kid being that confused, really. The interviews with kids that have same-gender parents seem pretty clear on who is who and all that. The thing that irritates me is that one of them already had two kids, why would you bring ANOTHER kid into this world?! There's plenty of people here already, don't need more thanks.

I did the pot-luck thing a couple of times in college, and in my senior year, I wound up renting with a girl who, six months into the year lease, revealed after a few gentle questions that she was a lesbian. We were 22.
She explained to me over many nights of uncorking much wine that of course her lifestyle was never a choice. "Who would choose this?" she asked me.
My point in boring you with this recollection is to prove I understand certain people are uncomfortable in the skin they're in and seek different sexual, emotional lifestyles (and partners) than the average heterosexual human.
I think people can go too far with this allowance when they involve children. While part of me relies on my college experience with my roommate to explain away the "why" of this topic, another part of me resorts to explaining this he/she person as a walking freak show, and now it is creating a life? A child will be born unto it, and the kid is supposed to understand?
*sigh*

Legally he is a HE. We should stop refering to HIM as HER/SHE. While we may not understand or respect the decision, we must face the fact that this person is in fact having a child (if it's true and I sure hope it is and not a prank on the world). I do know of many trans persons who have had children with their biological body parts even though they were living their lives as their assumed or accepted gender. We must come to realize that gender and sex are not the same. This couple sought to have a child in a "natural" manner and not through adoption or serogacy. While we may question the the "usefullness" or "sanity" of this decision, the fact is they have done it and must live with the fact. I do however fear for the child. I know how hard it can be in a single gender family (gay-gay or les-les) let alone a trans-straight family.
just some other thoughts on the matter.
And another thing. We should get away from the F word... Freak. IMHO

"I do however fear for the child." Thank God my point came through your undying plight to stick up for homosexuals. Go back and read my post to reveal not only my acquiescence but my understanding of the gay lifestyle. I believe I was quite respectful, too. I won't back off my use of the word "freak," because I didn't use the term loosely or candidly: /frek/ n: [origin unknown] (1563): a sudden and odd or seemingly pointless idea or turn of the mind; one that is markedly unusual or abnormal -- Webster's Ninth New Colligiate DictionaryThis thread surfaced a woman, now "legally" as you deem him man, who is pregnant. Dudes don't get pregnant. F-R-E-A-K. Hell, I tried to be nice.
