There are 21 California missions up and down the coast. An interesting history tour would be to take a trip to visit the each one. It would offer the opportunity to visit all of the beaches too!
I might just have to plan a trip like that this year.
I've been to San Juan Capistrano and most of the missions up to Carmel.
