Yeah well unfortunatly, some family sticks TO you rather than BY you, as exemplified by my friend who still has a dead-beat 23-year-old son living with them -- no job, no school, and who has wrecked two cars. Another friend's son can't seem to stay out of jail, but on the off occasion he gets out on parole, guess where he goes? Home to momma! I'd move overseas, personally. Oh, and might I remind you that Jeffrey Dahmer and Charles Manson were sons once, too?

Bingo: With children, you do give a lot, but you get so much more in return.

But you also PUT UP with a lot. Small things (loud children/ babies, nights of homework, organizing your child's life to the last detail, etc.....) to bigger things (loss of personal space/freedom, tightening of the purse strings, possible distance from your partner/spouse, etc.....)

Bingo: Without children, you will miss out on a lot of joy in life.

I have a lot of joy in my life as it is. Plus, if you DO have kids there is a lot of joy you'll miss out on--like traveling, peaceful quiet romantic evenings, long and deep conversations with your SO, etc.

Bingo: You know having children is the biggest gift of self you can give--don't you want to become truly selfless?

I went to church and was a missionary for a time so I have done selfless and being a slave is not all that it is cracked up to be thanks anyways!

bingo

the only thing women are good for is having kids and housework. You are a failure as a woman. if you dont have kids you are only living up to maybe half your potental.

oh yeah I got this one from a preacher when I was about 14. I cried not because he hurt my feeling but because it hurt so much not to punch him with all I had!

Hey preacher, the 1950's called, they want you back. Ever heard of the feminist movement? Women are more than human incubators and domestic slaves. Cook your own damn dinner!

Bingo:
Don't you want to pass on all your knowledge/experience onto future generations?

That's what books are for. They're more reliable, too and cost far less to reproduce.

Bingo: Kids are not as much trouble as you think...you're so negative without having even tried the experience.

No, they're MORE trouble than I think. And I know myself pretty well to know what things I like and what things I don't like.

Bingo:

Don't you want a little you running around?

My mother is mature enough to find her own fulfilment, thank you very much.

Bingo:

But what will you and your husband talk about if you don't have babies? (I've actually been on the receiving end of this one.)

Surprisingly, because we don't have children we have time for fun things called "interests" and "hobbies". We can then share those with each other and talk about what's happened in our day. We also can discuss world events, which in our eyes are more important than discussing little Johnny's day on the potty or how much he threw up.

Bingo: Your lives must be so empty (accompanied by a little sympathetic shake of the head).
