(THIS IS MY FIRST POST ON ANY FORUM)I am currently working in Leisure Arts "Booties Collection" Bootie #8. The pattern calls for Crochet Cross St and is described as; Rnd 3: Slip st in first ch-1 sp, [ch3, working around first dc, dc in last ch-1 sp made on Rnd 2 (first Cross St made)]. My problem is with working around dc in last ch-1 sp made on Rnd 2. I have looked for visuals on this stitch with no luck. I have been crocheting for 1yr, I feel I follow directions fairly well, but I am lost at this point and feeling discouraged with my project. Please Help.

Nice to meet you too, Nicola Jane. My boyfriend talks about his AV123 Forum all the time and all the information he gets with all the threads covering various subjects. Last night I came across this problem with my crochet project and thought what the heck. I shoudl give it a try. So thanks any way for the warm welcome. Tamera Gonzalez

It appears from my interpretation of the instructions, that you don't work "around" the dc that is worked in the ch-1 space. You only work "around" the first dc. Otherwise, the word "around" would be in front of the "dc worked in the ch-1 space" too, or there would be an "and" after the "first dc". If I am wrong in this interpretation, I hope someone much more knowledgeable than I am would reply to this thread. All in all, welcome and good luck with your project! And there are simpler bootie patterns out there, believe me!

Tamera,
The ch 3 at the beginning of rnd 3 counts as your first dc. Yo and your next dc is made by crossing the hook in front of the ch-3 and inserting it into the ch-1 sp immediately to the right of your ch-3. Pull up a loop, yo, and complete the dc as usual. This will look kinda of funny as your chain will seem to fold over onto itself when you insert the hook into the ch-1 space. Not to worry, it will straighten out as you complete your second dc. Be careful not to twist or turn your work and you will find that the completed second dc crosses over the front of the ch-3 (1st dc) you made at the beginning of rnd 3. I imagine that your next (3rd stitch) will have you skipping one ch-1 space to the left of your ch-3 and working a dc in the next ch-1 space, then the 4th stitch will have you crossing your hook in front of the 3rd dc, inserting the hook in the skipped ch-1 space that is to your right, and completing a dc in that skipped ch-1 space. Again, your work will fold down over itself as you insert the hook in the space to the right of the last dc you made, but will straighten out just fine as you complete the dc. Hope this helps!

Thank You Kathi & Judy,
Thank you for the attention to my chrochet cross stitch problem. I have been working (40-60 hrs wk)with an Autistic Individual and as a Patient Care Tech in the evenings. With 2 days off I try to get caught up with sleep, chores and life. I am sorry it took so long to reply to your solutions.

I will find the time to pick up my crocheting again and get back to you to let you know how it worked out. Again thanks for the help.
