Hello guys! I haven't been posting lately as I've been studying my butt off for the MCAT in less than a month. But I gotta tell you the update in my family situation...

The bf and I are expecting....
A brand new kitty!

I volunteer at the Humane Society and as much as I try, I cannot avoid getting attached to the animals. I've become very attached to a cat, gorgeous fellow! He's 5 years old, gray and a loveball. I heard yesterday that if he doesn't find a home by Friday that they will have to put him down (due to space issues among other things). I can't stand it! So by tonight I shall have a new kitty! I'm such a sucker for animals seriously.

Any tips on easing the transition into the home?

Make sure when you bring him in you give him a chance to look around and sniff around too. Depending on his nature he may be a little scared or maybe he will hop right in. The next most important thing to do is to point him in the direction of his new litter box...then food and water of course.

Congrats on the new little furry addition to the family!

We're going to name him Nico. My bf is obsessed with soccer and his team recently acquired a guy by the name of Nico. He kind of threw it out as a joke but I really like it! And don't worry, I'm sure by the end of the day I'll have taken 30 pics of the new boy so I will post them soon!

New kitties! "clapping"

That's the only problem with working at shelters and the like. Luckily I had a husband who was stronger willed than me when I worked there, but we still ended up with two...

Congrats kittybeep! How fun to bring a new kitty home smile All 3 of our babies came from the humane society or a rescue so I know how great those little kittens can be.

When we got our second kitty from the humane society, we kept him in a crate for a few minutes so our other kitty could sniff him, etc. first. Then we let him out just in the one area where litter box, food, etc. were so he wasn't so overwhelmed with a whole house. Over the next few hours we opened the rest of the doors to rooms so he could check them out and within the day he was acclimated to us and the house. As for he and our other cat getting along, well that took a little bit longer! smile

Good luck and let us know how it goes! Post a pic too if you take one smile

Congratulations. That is so nice.
We too, got our rescue kitty on Easter Sunday, she is very small, black and white Very much a LADY and we called her Precious, because that is what she is.

Keep him in for 6-8weeks, let him sniff around, have his litter tray in a private easy access place for him, handle him as much as he lets you. Keep telling him he is welcome. (thatsimilar to the advice we were given, but the last bit is my own advice!!)
