I wonder how many of us suffer from acid reflux? There were times n the beginning - when I didn't know I was getting it - that I'd get a sour taste in my mouth because I'd eat certain foods and then start moving around a lot. Now I'm much better about being stationary after eating, and not lying down after eating. I give time for the food to get out of my stomach and into my intestines. Otherwise it likes to go back up the esophagus Darn internal plumbing!!

Wow, that is scary!! I am really glad they figured that out for you. For me it's acidic food usually. I'm lucky that alcohol doesn't cause me much trouble, since I write about wine

My acid reflux is pretty bad. There are times where I feel like I am being strangled and have problems swallowing - not too bad though, just uncomfortable. I react badly to proton-pump inhibitors, so I just watch my diet. My parents also have horrible reflux, and so does my husband.

What diet works best for you and your reflux? I am just getting off of PPI's and never had acid reflux before taking them, and it seems like everything bothers me now. Any suggestions?

I have to limit my tomato sauce intake! Limit caffeine and fatty, fried foods.

Wow, I can't even eat saltines without a flare-up. It's brutal! If I had known then what I know now about PPI's I never would have started taking them. Be glad they didn't work for you!

They made me feel hot and uncomfortable. I just take Tums when I am not feeling well. Saltines w/fat upset me - I get the fat free crackers.

I had no idea they even had enough fat in them to bother anyone. When I was a kid my mom would give them to me when I was sick and they settled my stomach. So what can you eat that doesn't cause a flare-up?

I just stay with bland foods when I have bad refluz - pasta with oil & salt; pretzels, chicken soup, potato, ginger ale, tea, toast.
