I get the IRS publications at my email address and the other day used their calculator to find out I am getting $900 and not $1200 like I thought and mine will be on the 9th.

I think it's interesting how most of us have a list of things that we can think of to use the stimulus windfall on. It's like when you're a kid and you have Birthday money and you can't decide what you want to buy with your money. I have heard from many people that I ask that they are going to put their money away for awhile to see how the economic picture evolves which of course is not what the gov wants us to do with it. Some are planing to pay off debt and some people are probably going to use it just to make ends meet or to buy something they really need. Lots of people are undecided and waiting to see if they really get the refund they expect. The IRS calculator does help in determining if you're going to get what you think you are going to get. In some cases your refund is limited as it cannot be more than your 2007 total tax liability was or if your income was above the phase outs it may be reduced or eliminated. And of course some refunds are limited to the $300 for the people in the select group of recipients listed by the IRS that is getting a refund even though they normally pay no tax, like social security recipients, etc.

What are you doing with your refund if you're getting one?

Sigh... feeling very frustrated. Not that I don't like getting the money -- I have a kid who is going to college in the fall. But the whole idea that the way to help the country is get out there and spend, spend, spend!

We need to pay down the debt, and then we all would have more in pocket, sustainably, since we wouldn't be paying all that interest on the debt.

My family rebate isn't going to alter our spending patterns at all.

If we get one we are going to use it for our trip to Upstate New York that we do every summer so we can bring my kids to visit their mother for the summer.

I am not sure we are going to get one. Isn't there a minimum amount that you have to be taxed for?

I totally agree that the rebates are not going to do much to alter the state of the economy right now. I think that its probably too little too late. I'm thinking many people will just end up using it to make ends meet, to pay for gas and food, the necessities.

As far as the minimum amount you have to be taxed for that varies based on where your income comes from so you might want to check out the first article I posted on the Stimulus Rebates that gives you a run down of that information.
