Heck, no! My DH has prostate cancer. I do not. We were not diagnosed with it, HE was. While I can be (and am) as supportive as possible, there is no way that I can share his emotions, his pain, and everything else he has to go through with this. I can only play a supporting role to the best of my ability.

I think 'we're pregnant' is almost as annoying as 'we're trying to have a baby'. Like I care to know your having sex every night! Shouldn't sex be a private matter between the couple? Just had to put that in.

Oh, God YES. Thank you Rebekah. I always cringe when people say, "We're trying."

Agreeing all around. "We're pregnant" is just stupid.

this reminds me of an email i sent recently. i reconnected with an old (male) high school friend of mind online. he said, oh, not sure if you heard, but we're preggers.

okay, 3 annoying things:
1. the word "preggers." nuff said.
2. we're preggers. my response was something like, "have you alerted the scientists? i mean, unless i've missed something you are THE FIRST man to ever become pregnant!!" he's a very sarcastic person himself, so i knew i could get away with this as a biting joke. secretly i was irritated.
3. not sure if i heard? i hate when people who are pregnant, or who's WIVES are pregnant, assume that it's the most important thing going on anywhere on the planet. i haven't talked to this guy for a couple of years, but surely the miraculous news traveled across the country to my ears.

jeez.

LOL we use preggers or prego on our books at work denoting a pregnancy massage or a body or face treatment on a pregnant woman. I tell my sister she's prego ;0)

I dunno about "preggers" or "preggo". Pregnant yes, because that's a statement of fact. "Expecting" always makes me think that they're waiting for the UPS man, and colloquial expressions like "up the duff", "bun in the oven" (it's a baby, not a Pillsbury), "knocked up" and the like just make me cringe ...

I like the phrase "knocked up." It makes me laugh. It also has a slightly negative undertone, which warms my black little heart. Hearing "bun in the oven" makes me think the people saying it have taken up baking. It always takes a minute to translate in my brain, a mental double take of sorts.

I agree, have always HATED that phrase and can't believe so many people say it. It sounds so smug and satisfied. But, I bet the woman of the couple is is ACTUALLY pregnant won't feel so smug about their equitable sharing of the burden, when she's writhing in pain for hours on end during labor and having to breastfeed the little parasite every 2 hours after that.

I've had kids and that term "we're pregnant" always annoyed me! It's just so PC.
