Equal pay still is the #1 issue, in my opinion.

I also think a growing issue is child-friendly workplaces. I often speak to or read of women who are afraid even to mention they have children! That's a frightening situation to me, but I know that prior to kids, I really didn't think about how having them would impact my career choices.

Another "mama" issue is being given adequate time/space to pump while nursing. Legally employers are required to provide this time, but the guidelines are iffy and not always followed.

Brandi - I completely agree with you - the #1 issue to me is the wage gap. We've come a long way but we're still not at equal pay. I would also say unpaid maternity leave and sexual harassment are big issues women face.

I don't know if everyone has seen this already but there was an article in Business Week last summer on the CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi. It's a good reminder of a woman that has overcome the difficulties and proven to be a great leader. It's very inspiring!

Yes i agree that there are many issues like inequality at workplace which women suffer. NAPW is a site where you can link with other professional women and discuss such issues. Visit http://twitter.com/napwinc for more information.

Office politics and is another issue. Most of the time women become victims.

Another thing is ignoring the skill a woman posses. If a women gets a promotion people start to think how does she get it, instead of looking for the qualities and skills she has.

If you want a scary wake-up call of how bad things were not too long ago, go on Netflix and watch DVDs of Columbo and Quincy which were both shows from the 1970s. It is amazing some of the things said on those episodes! And this was only a few decades ago!

We really have come quite a long way. It's still not equal, but it is incredibly better than in the 70s!
