Well, you may remember we were speaking about tubal ligation a few weeks ago. I had had a consult with both the RN and MD and they were both very enlightened and more than willing to provide me the service I have been asking for. I went to my pre-op consult yesterday, got bloodwork and lab done, signed consent forms, spoke to Anesthesiology and the MD showed me the facility where everything will take place. Funnily, it's a birthing center! But they perform other outpatient procedures, such as BTL there as well. Of course, in the waiting area, they had all the beautiful Kodak moment baby posters up. I had a moment of sadness there, it lasted for about 1 minute or so. I'm sure you understand. Then it passed, as I was thinking about all the positive things that will happen to me and my partner in the years to come because of this decision that I'm making now. Ending on a funny note: as the MD walked me into and out of the facility, I noticed that they have to enter and exit by swiping their badge, the door is secured. She said "yes it's for security reasons, after all, we don't want anybody stealing babies..." We looked at each other and she said "in our case, we probably wouldn't mind, we may even sell it!" and smiled. Then she said "now if somebody would steal or hurt my dog, then I would really get upset!"... it was a funny moment, as I remembered her being very adamantly CF from my previous encounters with her. In closing, if anybody wants to impart any words of wisdom or advise, specifically concerning post-op, recovery, etc, I'm all ears! Thanks

I don't have any advice; haven't been through it (yet) myself. But I wanted to say Congratulations! And good luck! We'll all be thinking of you and let us know how it went when you feel better. Congrats on making this big decision!

Good luck with the surgery, and while I don't have any advice, I'd be very interested in hearing how it goes, and what your recovery time is like. I have to book a gyn appointment this month, and I'm going to ask about the tubal as well. I was looking at Essure, but here a tubal is covered by healthcare and the Essure isn't - so I'm tossing up taking the freebie :-)

Good luck Fatina....
It's so much harder for us to take permanent steps - a tubal is such a business compared to a vasectomy - I read somewhere they're now doing non-scalpel vasectomies - not sure how that works - and the recovery time is so fast...
I was never brave enough to head down that path and have avoided pregnancy in other ways for years on end - it will be nice for you to put this worry/issue behind you...
See you at the CF resort!
AND, let us know how it goes...

Thinking of you and hoping all goes well.

How can you prove whether at this moment we are sleeping, and all our thoughts are a dream; or whether we are awake, and talking to one another in the waking state?

Same here, I spoke with my University's nurse about it (her husband is a urologist) and she said that at 22 it's gonna be hard finding a doctor to do a vasectomy. All I need is one snip and I'll be happy for life.

I'm as cool as the other side of the pillow.
