I'm having some fun, I'm letting my polish stay on my fingers until it completely wears off smile Here's the photos so far. It was a professionally done manicure (something I pretty much never do which is why I'm taking pictures)

interesting color choice ;0)

I have a client who almost does the "dead" look.. a polish so pale it looks as if she's dead and has no circulation in her fingers

Lisa, that would drive me crazy! I prefer the natural colors, too, though I can't stand peeling polish! In fact, why don't you like. . . uhmmm, . . . TAKE THAT OFF NOW!

LOL. Told you it would drive me crazy. I was in a meeting once with someone who was peeling her polish off. She was going finger by finger, making a little pile of polish scraps, and it was so distracting I finally said "I just want you to know I'm fighting the urge to smack your hands!" She quit then.

My nails grow really fast and I do not wear any polish. I use a cuticle oil I massage on every night and that is usually all I put on my nails. It seems like I have to clip and file my nails at least twice a week.

You can't really see how fast they're growing by the tips - I cut those off normally because I type all day - but by the distance from the cuticle to the bottom layer smile

Jase - this was for the regency event so I was all in ivory and I was going for a soft pale pink to go with the little pink of the flowers in the belt.

Deb - it's funny, I went out to a fancy wine dinner a week or so ago and felt very self conscious about my hands, I tried to keep them hidden. I even considered taking the polish off but I figured like I said that this is pretty much the only time I've had a real manicure done so I really wanted to go through with the photos of it to see how long it lasted smile

Yeah, uhm, I think your manicure lasted like until you took the first photo! wink Now, some of the polish could last lots longer.

I have done that with my toes--just let it wear off naturally and it takes forever on your toes! Of course, this is in winter when I can wear socks. And, I don't pick at my toenails, but I'd pick my fingernails to pieces if the polish is peeling. But, I will do the same with hangnails, too--I can't leave anything alone.

Well we're estimating that my nail has grown a quarter of its length in the past month. So it would take 4 months to have the nail completely replace itself. I'm not thinking the polish will last that long, but we'll see!

My nails grow very quickly and are very strong. One time years ago I wore nail polish all the time and they got brittle and broke off. Now I save the polish for special occasions.

Joan, somethign to consider is an organic non-toxic nail polish that doesn't damage the nails like regular professional nail colors.

Consider sparitual nail colors. It is something our spa is switching over to. The bottles are made from 50% recycled glass and are designed to fit the hand well. The colors are beautiful and unlike OPI, their 72 classics never get discontinued. They do do 6 or 12 colors a season and only make so many bottles and then when they are sold out, thats it. They also accept the empty bottles back to be crushed and remelted into bottles. Their paper is not supporting irresponsible logging, and the ink is soy based. Oh yea.. the paper is also part recycled.
