I agree that Asians prize education and that this is a key part of why they do so well in school. However, studies done with children who are adopted show that there is more to it than that. Wikipedia explains that "adopted siblings partaking in the studies no more similar in IQ than with strangers". So an Asian family can't just adopt any random child from elsewhere in the world and have them get the same benefit. There's something inherent in being Asian.

Interestingly Wikipedia also says "At Harvard, for example, Asian American and Jewish students together make up 51% of the student body, though only constituting roughly 6% of the US population"

As all stereotypes go, there are exceptions. There are many Asian children that "rebel" against the whole education concept. One of the flips of that stereo-type is the one that is held for Triads, where you get more of a gang mentality.

As for Asian women being meek, you've never seen my mother bargin for the best price. I wouldn't say they are rude... but they certainly can be very schrewed.

Most of my Asian female friends are very polite and sweet; a bit on the shy side as well.

On the other hand, I have dealt with a few who get very upset when they see that I am with an Asian man. Like they are afraid that white women are going to steal all their men. That is a really legit worry considering the male population of Asia is so low. smirk *ends sarcasm*
