I usually use moving as a time to get rid of all of the clutter. Any knick-knacks, old clothes & shoes, & whatnot go to the Salvation Army or another charity thrift shop to gain a new life. Anything that likely won't sell there goes in the trash.

So, if you need a room for the clutter, go through it and try to recycle as much of it as you can. Otherwise, get rid of it by other means! During this move, we've gotten rid of 3 good sized boxes of stuff. At least someone else with get some treasure out of our trash!

Shoes are a clutter issue for me. Payless is a guilty pleasure. So I've decided to adopt the one in one out policy for shoe acquisition. I buy one pair, one pair has to go out to Goodwill or the Sally Ann. A core wardrobe of what... 10-15? ought to do a girl, right? Seasonally I mean. wink

Be kinder than you need to be. Everyone is dealing with something.

Oh yes, if we're talking seasonly, that's a whole other thing, isn't it LOL.

I'm the same way with purses. I keep threatening my girlfriends that I'm going to get them all out one night and line them up and take a video of it LOL.

10-15 really ought to do me... seasonally, of course grin

We have a shoe shelf with four levels that's at the end of the hall and I try to say that if the shelf gets full we have to give some shoes away. How many shoes does one person need? smile

I have a set of flip flops and beach shoes for when we travel. A pair of serious hiking boots, lite hiking boots and sneakers. Then for going out, a pair of low black Chinese shoes, low white Chinese shoes, two sets of heels. I do have slippers for around the house. Oh and I did just get a set of winter boots for when the snow gets over 8" which it has been recently. So I don't feel too badly about the shoe set - I can't wear hiking boots to a fancy dinner for example smile

That made me chuckle in an embarrassed way to myself Lisa. We have a family 'second cupboard' of shoes out in our utility room under the sink. Most of them haven't been worn for months, even years & a few pairs are too small for the children. As our Dishwasher sprang a leak last week & flooded the cupboard we are having a little enforced show clearing session!
