The Sufis believe that Fatimah holds the key to the [[Last Judgment]]; and the appearence of herself in thi guise of "[[Maryam al-Kubra]]" to 3 children at Fatimah in Portugal in 1917 points to something very profound indeed: these 3 children are actually the "[[Bab]]" or "Gate of Heaven" in their mystical "height" which is that of the 3 tiered "Door" of the Ark of Noah; in other words they "altogether as one" represent the "[[Pearl of Great Price]]" which is the "Gate of Heaven"; in this aspect they are firstly the "barrier" of Faith by which those who call themselves "believers" whether Jew, Christian or Muslim must now join; for it is these 3 who are the "[[children of Fatimah]]" who Muhammed said in a famous hadith that would be called "[[the People of Salvation]]"; (in other words the "peacemakers" who Jesus said would be called "the children of the Most High"). Secondly to enter this "Ark of Salvation" on the "Bara'qah" one must recognize that [[Fatimah al-Zahra]] or "The Lady of Light" was given the Blessing of Allah in bringing forth "the Son of Mary"; this Mary being Fatimah as Maryam al-Kubra; the "Greater Mary". The Sun of Fatimah is then the "[[Christ]] of [[Islam]]" and [[Mahdi]] of Christianity as well; they are "One and the Same".
For Muslims it appears that Allah will test them with this just as he did the Jews with Jesus; and few passed the test then; as perhaps few Muslims will pass this test now. It is this information that was in the "Book of Fatimah" that Gabriel gave her to comfort her after the miscarriage of her child and murder of her husband; telling her she would bring forth the Messiah of Islam; the [[Mahdi]] of Christianity as the Lamb reborn as the [[Sun of Righteousness]]; the "Star of Maryam-al-Kubra"; the New (Increscent) Moon. This is seen on many Islamic banners; and on many Mosques; for good reason: the star is the Mahdi; the Son of Mary; as Muhammed himself called him.
Our Lady of Fatima is widely held to be Mary; however it may be that the actual "miracle of Fatimah" has to do with the Daughter of Muhammed in her "Unveiling" by God as "Maryam al-Kubra"; also known as "The Greater Mary". The 3 children of Fatima saw Fatimah al-Zahra; the Virgin of Islam; the Light of Allah. It is al-Zahra in her "Magnifying" of the Lord that Mary of Bethlehem had said before of her; saying "My soul doth magnify the Lord". Thus it is the Sun of Fatimah which is the Christ of Islam; the Star of Maryam al-Kubra who is the Son of Mary; who Muhammed said would be the Mahdi or the one who would come in the name of Christ Jesus; which as the wise all know is the Name of God; for what one does is the Name of God one also does in the name of Christ Jesus; just as what one does in the name of Christ Jesus one also does in the Name of God; the Elect know this from experience in the actual "Truth of Truths". Here it is the Sun of Righteousness being what Malachi the Last Prophet of Israel called the Messiah; coming in the position of Jesus "the Lamb" of Mary "the Dove".
It appears that Allah did use Fatimah as the precursor to the Last Judegment by having her "miscarriage" and lost child and then left a widow with a murdered husband to be an entire "Miscarriage of Justice" which Allah in His Mercy compensated Fatimah for as bringing forth the Saviour with His Help; thus Maryam al-Kubra brings forth a Second Child by God without Ali directly; just as Allah brought forth a Child from Mary without her husband Joseph directly; from Himself as her Husband; the Lamb of God being the Light of Allah; "Light upon Light" could therefore refer to this New Lamp of Allah being that of the "New heaven and earth"; for as Ibn El-Arabi can tell you (if you can attain to his presence) it is the Lamp of Allah which is the Creation of God; and the Spirit of God within the Lamp being the One in which we live and move and have our being and existence; the Eternal Book itself being the Light in which all within the Creation is inscribed; "Allah is the Light of the Heaven and the Earth". Thus the "Writing" itself is what comprises the Book.

Unrevealed untill now from the Assembly of the servants of God unaccordingly but correspondently known as the Sufi elect it is Fatimah Zahra, as the Cosmic or Universal form of the Virgin Mary, also known as Maryam al-Kubra, who manifested herself as Our Lady of Fatimah in Portugal in 1917 as "Al Zahra" or the "Lady of Light". As Mary had once said: "My soul doth magnify the Lord". At Fatimah or the center of the faithful who had made pilgrimmages to the city for decades the Cosmic Mary thus "magnified" the Lord by bringing forth the "Faith of Tabriz", the "Light of Al Zahra": the Light of the Lamp of Allah. It is claimed that another of Muhammed's prophecies came true here, that he said: "No Mahdi but Jesus; the Son of Mary". It is believed that was the "Mary of Fatimah" who brought forth the "Star of the Crescent Moon"; the Son of Maryam al-Kubra.
This figure is seen as the Lamb of the Virgin; the Mahdi who bears the Name of "the Slain Lamb" Christ Jesus. Thus the "Mahdi" and the "Messiah" are viewed as one and the same. The facts about Mary as the mother of Jesus and her slain son are also seen as surrounding Fatimah and first her husband's and then their son's unjust death at the beginning of the foundation of the Islamic "world" Theocratic State are exactly similar and thus highly suggestive of the "Mary of Fatimah" as the Islamic "Virgin Daughter" and "the lamb slain from the foundation of the world" as "the slain son of Ali"; these being the prototypical "mythical" sacrifices for both religions: Christianity and Shi'a. Both Mary of Bethlehem and Fatimah of Mecca are believed to have had children who died deaths of expediency for those who had decided to "take the Vineyard" for themselves; here seen as the Pharisees of Jesus' Day on the one hand and the Sunni of Muhammed's Day on the other. The Child that Jesus of Nazareth and Mary of Bethany never had is then very much like the child Fatimah and Ali never had; as the miscarriage of Justice itself: but God Himself avenges such things; and it appears He has. "Vengance is mine" sayeth the Lord; "I will repay". Thus the Sun of fatimah is the "Everlasting Sign" of the coming of the Lamb which begins the End and the beginning in that End of the Last Judgement itself: and it is the Widow who is Avenged; as some knew beforehand; knowing God is Just.

You should know that Baha'is are not the same as Sufis...although some of the poetry of Saadi, Rumi and other poets is referred to in some of the Baha'i Writings we are not ourselves Sufis.

The "slain son of Ali"...in case you didn't know this was the Imam Husayn. He was martyred on the plains of Karbela outside Bagdad. Baha'u'llah revealed that He was the Imam Husayn.. and the following is from the Baha'i Writings:

"Consider the eagerness with which certain peoples and nations have anticipated the return of Im�m-Husayn, whose coming, after the appearance of the Q�im, hath been prophesied, in days past, by the chosen ones of God, exalted be His glory. These holy ones have, moreover, announced that when He Who is the Day Spring of the manifold grace of God manifesteth Himself, all the Prophets and Messengers, including the Q�im, will gather together beneath the shadow of the sacred Standard which the Promised One will raise. That hour is now come. The world is illumined with the effulgent glory of His countenance. And yet, behold how far its peoples have strayed from His path! None have believed in Him except them who, through the power of the Lord of Names, have shattered the idols of their vain imaginings and corrupt desires and entered the city of certitude.

The seal of the choice Wine of His Revelation hath, in this Day and in His Name, the Self-Sufficing, been broken. Its grace is being poured out upon men. Fill thy cup, and drink in, in His Name, the Most Holy, the All-Praised."

Baha'u'llah fulfilled the prophecies of the return of the Imam Husayn in our belief.

Also today is a judgement time for us to accept the new dispensation revealed by Baha'u'llah.

Forgive my long abscence; but I have been dealing with the Church here in the West where everyone is fighting the idea of Osama bin Laden being the Ad-Dajjal; who we call "the Antichrist". Many are in denial of this fact: but the time has come for the Zulfiqar to come forth and kill the fatted calf: the Judas of Islam: the son of perdition.

As the West tries to circumvent the shifting sands of the Saudia Arabian hold on the House of Mecca it might behoove we who care about the future of America and Israel to aquire some perspective that might advance our understanding in confronting the basis on which we are being judged by radical Islam and the west's blind reaction to it. Those who have never even opened a Qu'ran or even studied the culture which produced the Taliban and other regressive movements in the tribal patchwork which makes up the fabric of what is now a torn garment of the body politic in the theocratic and autocratic rulership of Sunni and Shia belief systems should perhaps take a look at some writer's whose prophetic understanding might cast some light on our friend; Osama bin Laden; the Global Terrorist: St. Paul of Tarsus. If one reads Thessalonians II 2: 3-4 one will get what I call a "shock" of recognition. Here is the quote in full after St. Paul discusses the day of Christ to come;



"Let no one deceive you by any means;
for that Day will not come unless the
falling away comes first, and the
man of sin is revealed, the
son of perdition,

who opposes and exalts himself above all that is
called God or that is worshipped, so that
he sits as God in the House of God,
showing himself that he is God."

While some might be amused by such recondrite blasphemy it certainly seems that Osama bin Laden has judged the West and, apparently with Allah's help, has carried out his judgment on the "great Satan" of the corrupt West as if he were, indeed; "God". By sitting on the throne of Mecca spiritually it is Osama who has done more than just begun World War III; he has made sure that it will be the last War; the Holy War; the showdown between what radical Islam calls "the people of Salvation" and the fallen West. While some might smile at such antics with the power the west possesses in it's arsenal we might look again at the prophetic core of belief that is driving the forces intent on their coming Armegeddeon. Can it be avoided? My answer is yes; we can bring about an "internal Jihad" which Muhammed always said was the true struggle as opposed to the frankly profane "external Jihad"; as can be seen in one of his most famous sayings, to wit;

"The ink of the learned is holier than the blood of the martyr"

The heaviest authority of the one-eyed or "evil one' Muhammed saw in his vision of the Ad-Dajjal that Gabriel showed him is in this hadith that Muhammed described one characteristic by which the "Ad-Dajjal" would be known: he would offer men "Jannat" or "Heaven"; but really deliver them into "Jahannah/ "Gehenna: the dung heap". This sounds very much like Osama bin Laden's offers of virgins to those who die for him as the payment of the holy warrior as of the 7th heaven. But the hadith or "saying" of Muhammed further states that the Ad-Dajjal or Antichrist will try to put his enemies in the camp of "Satan" or even "Satan the Devil" as of "Jahannah": but they are actually the "peacemakers" that Lord Jesus said would be called "the children of the Most High". It is these who Muhammed said would be called "his people: the People of Salvation". Thus they are all; Jew. Christian or Muslim who die for peace: but they will not kill for it.


The Sunni leaders in Irag are well aware of this; which is why the "Awakening" has worked so well: yet to garner the support the west will need from it's allies in the moderate Islamic community that does still operate in the Middle East we need to unify the opposition to Osama bin Laden and his operatives by debating them on the Floor of the UN: with safe passge in and out of the UN as well.

Well that's very interesting Christopher.. I'm not sure how it relates though to Baha'i Faith. Baha'is don't call anyone at this time an "Anti- Christ".

The "Devil" as a kind of negative force opposed to God is also not a concept that we accept:

The reality underlying this question is that the evil spirit, Satan or whatever is interpreted as evil, refers to the lower nature in man.

Abdul-Baha said this about war:

Every war is against the good pleasure of the Lord of mankind, for man is the edifice of God and war destroys the divine edifice. If an active, actual peace is brought about, the human world will attain to the utmost serenity and composure; wolves will be transformed into lambs, devils into angels, and terrors into divine splendors in less than the twinkling of an eye.

(Abdu'l-Baha, Divine Philosophy, p. 85)


Baha'is do have some historical connections to Iraq and of course Iran and of course Israel since

(1) Haifa - Bahji area is the center of our administrative and spiritual Qiblah.

(2) House of the Baha'u'llah in Bagdad, Iraq and

(3) the House of the Bab in Shiraz, Iran are places of pilgrimage for us that we cannot go to because of the lawless fanaticism of certain groups.

Someday we believe these sites (in Bagdad, Iraq and in Shiraz, Iran) will be open to the Baha'is.

As for the current Middle East crisis and the issue of terrorism, Baha'is are hopeful that international law and diplomacy will eventually win the day and peace and order will be established.
