Men want you to think its for your own protection AND some might actually mean well but historically I believe this has been mens way of controlling and manipulating women.

Women are weaker because they must be protected. Keep them popping out kids, keeps them busy and out of the mens way.

I think women are physicaly weaker in a sense that we cant lift 300 pounds of dead weight exspecialy if we are pregnant. but we are weaker intelagantly only because women are not taught like men are....for example if a brother and sister are about the same age in most families the brother will be taught to fight, hunt, and fix a car, where the girl gets to cook clean and play babysitter and sow. logicaly the girl is more vonerable if she has car trouble in the middle of now where and cant fix the car, she doesnt know how to fight and protect her self and she has been taught to be helpful and trusting. she will in all likily hood get hurt or killed if the wrong person comes along. so she is weaker because she is not taught any different.

this is a diserves to women!

I agree that women how can do the same job as a man should get paid the same pay because this is fair. but if the woman can not do the same job then she should not do that job with the same pay. that is not to say that no woman should do that job or that all woman should get less pay. for example if sally can hammer and fix a car and lift the same as john the john and sally should get the same pay but if anna can hammer and lift the same as john but cant fix a car then she should get paid less until she can learn to do it because it is not fair to sally or john for her to get paid the same but not do the same job.

I do think some women should be protected like young girls with no morals or self esteem who have a kid at 13 and pop one out every year men AND women should teach them better and protect them and show them a better life!

I also think some men should be protected from them selves! the gang bangers who think they have no choice but to be in a gang and the young men and boys who turn to that life out of fear need someone to show them a better life....girls and young women too for that matter!

I have never been a fimminist or subissive either! ask my mom and husband!!! lol I think we just need more humanity in general and less sexism and raceism!

women will never be recognized as equal until they realize they are. we live in a puritanical based society - and porn is more rampant here than anywhere.

The difference will come when Mothers teach their daughters they are equal to men, then they will teach their daughters etc. and someday down the line it will become a global manifestation. One woman can change the word.

Matriarchal societies were few in Rome, Greece and the lot, although archaelologist like Marija Gimbutas, well known for finding, tagging and diciphering the Venuses that were found from the Neolithic and Paleolithic eras, believe that matriarchal societies for in control for thousands of years, which was before ancient societies as Rome and Greece. The Venuses are shaped like a female with extended abdomen's and a definite vulva. Therefore, the presumption that these statues are female are correct. It seems (but not proven) that society then was matriarchal, a thought I also agree with. However, there are not any facts to back this up, except the myths that were found. The idea is that religion as one God was formed extenuating the myths. For example: Dyonisis was murdered and returned from the dead, like Christ who was also murdered and resurrected. The story of creation and Eve is a way to control the female who had previously ruled with love and equality (or so I would like to think, now Eve is linked with the original sin, although man was also made to leave the garden, women are the true culprits. This language in the Bible is what keeps women suppressed, not to say that the teachings in the New Testament are words to live by. The Sermon on the Mount is one of the greatest speeches ever written. Jesus should be taught and reverred for he is right up there with Martin Luther King, Jr., Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon (who also advocated PEACE). I see organized religion as problematic in the language. Change the language, and the stories to reflect the strengths, hopes, insights and nurturing that we all women have the ability to express.

Tha Native American cultures allow women to become spiritual leaders or medicine women. To these peoples, the woman was an integral part of their cultures and family. I feel women, just as much as men, are quite capable of becoming spiritual leaders.

I just had to reply to this post because all of the responses were so interesting and some were even funny. It does seem sad that after all of these years that society seems to have not changed at all.

My daughter sometimes makes me laugh when she says she wishes that all of the men would just die off, that the world would be a better place. She says "really, what are they good for"?

Many "beginning of the earth" stories are women centered all the way from the stone age there are stories and proof of woman's high regard. I believe that Christianity and other male monotheistic religious were created for those in power to keep and gain more power.

There are two creation stories in the bible.

The first one says that both male and female where made in the image of God.
