My DH told me he saw a commercial on TV the other day for a new type of permenant BC. He said that it sounded exactly like the Essure procedure, so basically a competitor for them. All he could remember is that the procedure started w/ the letter "M" and that the device (unlike the coils w/ Essure) was made of plastic. I have been researching online to no avail and haven't found a website or info yet. Anyone hear of this or know what I am referring to?
Is it the Mirena? I am not familiar with Essure, don't know that it is available here, but know about the Mirena - lasts 5 years.BellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Mirena is an IUD, as is Paragard. From what I saw on the Essure website, it's perminant, right? As prugie said, Mirenas last 5 years. IIRC, Paragards last 7 years. Only difference between a Mirena and a Paragard is one has hormones and one doesn't.

Thanks for the info everyone. Well it sounds like it is nothing like Essure if Mirena is indeed the commercial my DH saw. Essure is great since it is a permanent deal. We have been talking about it for the last year and think that is what we are going to do.
