Just wondering if anyone here has ever hear this before. My mom told me this the other day and I am really wondering if it is true. She said that she was reading where the majority of women who have abortions are women in their late 20's who are married w/ multiple kids, who have an unexpected pregnancy after being finished having kids. I found this hard to believe, but was wondering if anyone here has heard this before. She is extremely pro life, where as I feel the government has no right to tell anyone what they can and can't do w/ their bodies.

'Despite huge Government spending on contraception education, 19-year-olds are now the most likely of any age group to have an abortion, with 35 in every 1,000 undergoing the procedure, according to official Department of Health figures.

Previously the highest rate was among women aged 20-24 years.'

During the year ('98) I worked at an abortion clinic as a counselor, I found that most of the women were early 20s without kids, BUT almost as many women came in who were already parents. The latter group was typically less distressed over the situation and more confident in their decision, as they knew what parenting entailed.

The smaller groups were teenagers and women over 35. It doesn't surprise me that more teenagers are getting pregnant now, though.

I've heard this too...I have a friend who had an abortion, and she was telling me that she was shocked to see married mothers in the waiting room with her..she was chatting with some and then said just what you were saying...they did'nt plan this, the already had 4 kids and couldn't afford another, etc.
