The paintings by Sandro Botticelli are some of my favorites. "The Birth of Venus" is so lovely and serene. Albrecht Durer is my most favorite, though. I love his self portrait. He was a beautiful man. Does anyone else have a favorite Renaissance artist? The Early Renaissance Period was full of very creative and intellectual artists who left a profound legacy of beauty.

I love them all. But I guess my most favorite would have to be Michelangelo. Nothing compares to standing in the Sistine Chapel and looking up!

I agree. I haven't seen the Sistine Chapel yet (it's on my to-do list), but just seeing his Slaves in the Louvre was incredible. I took a class on him in college; he was such a talented and amazing artist. I loved his idea that the figures were trapped in the marble and he was freeing them. I can't imagine what it must be like to stand in front of his David.

Ahhh! Michelangelo's David has got to be the most beautiful sculpture ever!!! I is so perfect. I just cannot fathom how someone can create something so profound.
