I posted a couple of these photos in my birds forum when we got a little off topic smile so I thought I'd let the birders take a look too. A flock of Cedar Waxwings have been hanging around my mountain ash tree for the last few weeks.

We get them in the summer. They look like bandits & I love the bit of yellow on the end of their tails. They have a high pitch call so I hear them more than I see them.

Cedar Waxwings are so beautiful! I love their soft coloring.
I saw an interesting behavior once that surprised me. A flock of CWs flew into the back of my wooded yard one late afternoon, and I watched them feeding off some berry bushes. Suddenly they semed to disappear, even though they hadn't flown away. I got out the binoculars and looked down there but couldn't see any of them. So I went out and slowly walked down to the bottom of the yard and finally saw them in the trees; each bird was tucked against a twig, hidden under an overhanging leaf. They were ready for sleep, safe from danger and possible rain! I tiptoed away and left them to nap in peace.
