When I write on Native American issues or especially their history, it really puts me in an inspirational mood if I play some Native American flute music. That is very sooting to me and it pushes away any stress I may have. I never write when I am stressed out.

I liked to write specifically for the purpose of relieving stress I find getting some thoughts down on paper and out of my head opens up room for more inspiring thoughts. Or at least a better flow of thoughts.

Writing for stress relief is good. I sometimes write down things that are stressing me out then burn the paper as I watch my problems disappear in the flames. As far as my writing for enjoyment I prefer having music to listen to that inspires me.

I can't have any sound at all when I'm writing. I used to write with children playing around me, but now that they're grown, I've become too used to quiet during the day. So I like it silent.

It depends on what I'm writing... if I'm journaling, sometimes I like Fergie or KT Tunstall, Blackmore's Night, or my LoTR soundtracks. If I'm writing an article, and need to concentrate on facts, I like music with no vocals.

I listen to Radio Paradise when I'm writing or coding, often.

I've used it so much, I wrote a piece on it! LOL

Read it Here - if you like!

I like RP because they play an eclectic variety of music and my friends, family and clients all over the world can listen to the same song at the same time. I dig that!

I'm the same way -- I like music without words I might suddenly start singing along to. smile

I like to have non-vocal music that goes with my theme. So Irish music when writing an Irish book, medieval music when working on medieval romance, native American music when I write my native American book etc.

I'm doomed! I love dance and music and often write about those topics. So I usually can't listen to music when I write because any good music makes me want to dance, and then I forget all about the writing! If it's soothing music, it makes me want to relax and just enjoy the vocals or the instruments, how they sound, and how they relate to each other and build throughout the song.

So I like to write with no sounds or distractions.
