BellaOnline Forums TV and Movies Entertainment News Is Jamie Lynn Spears a bad influence?

I don't have a teenage daughter, but I used to be one and I can't say for sure if I think Jamie Lynn Spears will be any more of a negative influence if she stays on Nickelodeon or not. I was wondering what everyone's opinions are on whether the network should stop working with her.

After Vanessa Hudgens had nude pictures of her posted on the internet and Disney kept her on for more High School Musical work, could Nickelodeon just follow suit since Jamie Lynn admitted to making a mistake, but plans on taking responsibility for her actions and her child?

The audience for both High School Musical and Zoey 101 are the same, will parents be as forgiving with Jamie Lynn's situation?

Personally, I disagreed with Disney for keeping Hudgens on, and I really would like to see Nickelodeon cancel Jamie Lynn's series.

Neither Nickelodeon or Jamie Lynn Spears should be responsible for teaching kids values and giving them someone to look up to, in my opinion. What happened to parental responsibility?

I agree, parental responsibility is the right way to go. Unfortunately, I don't think it is a reality in today's world. With so many working parents, kids raise themselve before they hit the teen years. kids today learn more from the tv then they do from the parents, so where does this leave the kids?

I guess that's why I don't understand why so many people have kids when they know they aren't able to put in the time and effort to raise them properly. Call me old fashioned, but I'm a big believer that at least one parent (or at least a close, trusted relative) should stay at home with the child until he or she is in school. I know that in today's society most families need a double income to live the lifestyle they perfer, but I also think that most people are living way beyond their means nowadays.

It's so hard to know what the right response should be, but making a decision based on money doesn't seem to be the right thing to do by any means. It seems that Disny and Nickelodeon are just looking out for their bank account, and that isn't good for any child or parent.

Hopefully parents aren't encouraging their children to look up to people on tv or athletes, because they aren't setting such a great example, not that they really ever have.

Knowing that teenage pregnancy is something that parents should discuss with their children, this situation has probably sparked plenty of conversations - I don't know what good could come out of the Vanessa Hudgens situation.

I'm sure more will come of this story once Jamie Lynn is further along in her pregnancy and becomes a mother - let's just hope she is a better one than her sister!
