I returned late from one of my Personal Chef assignments and decided to watch a movie with a hot drink before bed, even though it was well after midnight I needed to unwind.

Isn't it funny what you imagine in these situations. I was alone watching one of the fantastic Catherine Cookson collection of 45 DVD's that someone recently bought me (fantastic Mothers Day gift by the way from Amazon) .

At first I thought it was my 3 huge Rag Doll cats fighting under the chair. Then seeing them peacefully asleep on the sofa my heart skipped a beat...there was definitely something large and living under my chair. I quietly got down on the floor and lifted the skirts of the armchair expecting some strange dog taking refuge....nothing....not even a mouse!

I had a horrible feeling that perhaps one of the beams in the ceiling downstairs may have given way to woodworm or something...after examination...nothing unusual.

Did I have extremely strong palpitations...was it some weird new kind of panic attack?

I was all alone in the middle of nowhere here in Oxfordshire....I made a hot drink, reluctant to go back to the vibrating chair. Oh well let's see if anything interesting has appeared on the BBC news. Ah mystery solved 'Earthquake in Reading'...

what a relief it was only an earthquake I could go back and watch the rest of the film.
