Do any of you have a person in your life, whether it be a family member or friend that defends your choice to be CF? I have read some fantastic posts here and thought I would share about my wonderful little brother. He and his wife are currently expecting their first child soon, and he is fully in support of my DH and I's decision to be CF. My mom, who is still "holding out hope" that we will someday have kids, is always saying stuff to my brother. He always comes to our defense and reminds mom that we will not be having kids. He is such a great brother and friend and I am glad that we are so close. I am looking forward to (I was a little weary at first because I was just thinking of myself and being bingoed) the birth of his child who will also be the first born grandchild in our family.

Actually my mom supports my decision. She knows I'm awful with kids, don't hold babies, am a very selfish person, ect...And it's kind of funny because she used to say I'll change my mind but now that I've been married for a couple years and my decision still hasn't changed, I think she understands me. When people ask me in front of my mom when I'm gonna have kids, my mom will jump in and laughingly say 'oh rebekah will never have kids.' She tells me a child should never be unwanted and If I don't want kids then I shouldn't have them. Also my sister who has 2 kids always says 'nooo you never want kids' too much work ect...It's great how they support me.

My sister, who has two kids, is really great. And she just told me that her other sister (who is my age but is not my sister- so my poor sister has TWO half-sisters!) doesn't want kids, either. I don't know if she's CF, though. BUT - my sister's best friend is CF, which I just found out a few months ago.

So maybe that makes my sister more understanding.

My mom says that she supports my decision, but that she does want grandchildren. BUT - the other day she called me to say that she sent a card to my in-laws saying "congrats on being new grandparents!" She said, "you're going to be so mad at me. I wrote in the card, 'maybe someday we'll share a grandchild as well.' I just didn't know what else to say. So now your in-laws will probably start bothering you again. Sorry."

I said it was okay, but seriously? What is WRONG with her? I think my in-laws have gotten smart enough to know not to say anything to me, but now it looks like either I haven't told my mom or she doesn't support me. GRRR!!!

Anyway, my sister is really sweet and invites my mom over to play with my nephews and they go out to lunch and stuff (my sister was my mom's stepdaughter for 6 years.) And they call her Babi, which is Czech for Grandma, so at least she gets to be a pseudo-Grandma.
