Gosh that really sucks. Seems like I see more and more kids like that these days instead of nice, polite ones. It really is ashame. This is exactly reason me and DH get take out most times. We don't want to be around all these families in the restaurants. And I don't know about other states, but here were I live since you are no longer allowed to smoke in restaurants, me and DH like to go to 21 and over establishments to be able to enjoy our food in peace.

I totally agree! DH and I are forever getting take out, or we eat in the bar. Or we go out to eat super early, but even that doesn't guarantee no out-of-control children. I just remember being a kid and rarely going to restaurants, and when we were in public, we knew we had "TO BEHAVE OURSELVES". A lot of parents these days (maybe just a larger percentage in my town) don't discipline their children or even tell them to stop doing something... that, or I just don't notice the quiet, well-behaved ones.

Trisharoni - I can totally relate. I don't remember going to that many restaurants (well besides fast food) as a whole family when I was little. Could be that I had 2 younger brothers so feeding a family of 5 could be really spendy (my parents were always really frugal). But like you said, I KNEW I had to behave or there would be serious punishment involved. And no, it is not just you, the kids here are terrible. I find myself in the rare moment it may be, complementing a parent in public if they are doing a fantastic job - they deserve it!

I tend to avoid noisy, chaotic places myself. I go shopping during off peak times, and eat at restaurants early. I can't stand being in places where unruly, feral children run about. If I acted the way a lot of the kids act today in public, I would of been taken to the bathroom or the car. Translation: Spanking!!! Parents don't spank their children anymore. And really, how can these families who say they can't afford a babysitter afford to eat out? If I recall, eating out is expensive.
