Friends of mine who are parents seem obsessed with how "cute" their babies or toddlers are. They pass around pictures on the Internet, recount stories and justify their kids by ending a comment about them by saying "he/she is so CUTE."
I'm sorry, but "cute" is not a reason to go all ga-ga over kids. Yes, some kids are cute, but there are more important issues with kids that parents don't talk about. For instance:
-- how difficult it is to get a kid to retain educational information
-- making sure your child comprehends what they are reading
-- making sure your child practices solving daily problems
-- looking after their socio-emotional well being so they are happy.
My hat is off to those parents who have worked hard to produce well adjusted kids, who are polite, respectful, know their boundaries, are responsible and do well at their studies (which, after all is the kid's day job!)
Not impressed with people who constantly remind everyone of the "cuteness" of their child. It is delightful (to some--not me so much), but it's not the sole point of babies, toddlers and children!
