There you go - everything has an up side! smile

I wake up very easily, so any noise will jar me out of sleep. We have an air filter in the bedroom which both keeps the air clean and helps to block out noises that might wake me up.

Interesting article Lisa, thanks for sharing. I has no idea that noises would increase your blood pressure while you are sleeping.
I have always liked having a fan on while I am sleeping even in the winter. The sound is very soothing and it also blocks out some noise.

Yes isn't that intriguing? It's not even that you wake up. You're still asleep. But your body - while unconscious - reacts to the "potential threat" in the area. It really emphasizes that it's a good thing to have your sleep environment be a quiet one.

I can totally understand this. I can't stand noise, when I was first married, my husband snored so I started wearing ear plugs at night, now 20 years later, no snoring husband but I still wear the ear plugs.

My boyfriend snores sometimes and it really bothers me a lot. But I don't think I could sleep with ear plugs in. That being said, one night I was tired of the snoring and did in fact go get my Bose headphones (noise canceling ones) and managed to find a position on the pillow that I could sleep in and I was SO happy. There must be a better way to handle the snoring. I did get the nose sleep strips but he wakes up when I try to put them on smile

I play music for my children, one is autistic and she sleeps so soundly now. It is normally rain or waves that lull the girls (i have two girls and one boy) to sleep.

The music seeps into our room, so I sleep better.

One other thing that helps us sleep more soundly is a Tea Pillow. I also write for a Tea Site (shameless plug for my friends there? www.teaavenue.com i really love them) and the guys there sent me a Green Tea Pillow. Combined with the music, the scent really does help.

You can make your own scented sachet for sleep by filling a small mesh bag with green (or whatever kind) tea, tying it shut, then slipping it into your pillowcase.

I like the scent of lavender - I don't drink tea (green / normal tea) for caffeine reasons. I do drink herbal tea but I'm not sure I could fall asleep to the aroma of camomile smile But I flip my pillow over sometimes in the night to get the cooler side up, so it wouldn't work well for me to have something in the pillow. It works better for me to have the scented thing on my night stand.
