So I was discussing a patient of ours with a co-worker - the patient is pregnant, and we were talking about all the medications she couldn't take. And I declared, out of the blue, "Good thing I'm never going to be pregnant!". Her response was, "So, you don't want any little Julies", and to ask me, why not? Of course, I couldn't come up with anything better than saying that my husband doesn't want one. Sheesh. It's so darn complicated especially as I've been a fence-sitter but my husband is the deciding factor. But nice to feel free to be so open and spontaneous enough to declare it.

I continue to be dismayed by EVERYONE at work getting pregnant. Most of my fellow medical residents are 8 - 10 years younger than me, and ALL are having kids. It's amazing what they go through with their call schedules and daycare! I just miss having one or two people like me to hang out with. It's great to have the forum here but not the same thing as in person.

Julie

Too bad we are not in the same city (Atlanta, GA) or I would make efforts to hang out with you. I feel the same way where I work except that it is more of an office cube farm than anything else. And with the 300 or so employees that are in this building alone, someone is always either (1) pregnant, (2) wanting to be a parent or (3) already have children. I can totally relate to how isolated you feel about wanting someone whose life doesn't revolve around children (and all that it entails) to hang out with.

Sleepykgm,

I wish I could introduce you to some of my husband's co-workers!

He works for Coca-Cola Enterprises in their IT dept right off of Windy Hill, and there are soooooo many of his friends that are decidedly CF.

We usually have 3-4 get-togethers a year, and only about 1 of them do we say "kids invited". Partly because our kids are like "Why can't we ever come to the party?" (one's 16) and partly because we like seeing other friend's children.

But we do have about 4 couples that we are really good friends with that don't have/ never will have kids - and so the other parties are adults only. (Plus - I'm a stay at home mom, so I NEED the adult time).

But there are several activities in Atlanta that are adult-geared, where you'll meet other CF couples. Wine tastings, jazz clubs, HAM radio, ASO and other arts; also check around GA Tech - even though it's a college, it has so many professors that there are many social opportunities for adults as well.

There is nothing more annoying than hearing coworkers talking about pregnancy and babies.
