I am 32 and Chris is 34. Seems like we have a lot of "thirtysomethings" here.
Do any of you remember that show in the 80s? Or was it the early 90s? Either way, those people seemed WAY older than I feel now!

Representing the geriatric end of the forum (not even close Sandra Kay!) I'm 50 on the 26th of this month and my DH is 48... I've always been CF (apart from a final panic in my late 30s)...my DH was totally indifferent when I met him - he would have agreed to children if I'd been interested - he was happy either way. He became firmly CF in his late 30s... We have never discussed sterilization probably because BC wasn't a problem for us. Strangely, we both have 2 CF siblings... I have always loved cats... My DH had a dog when he was a child but his parents ended up giving it away when it became destructive in the garden. He had never really liked cats thinking them aloof and unfriendly. He was a bit puzzled a cat was the FIRST thing on my list when we moved into our first home. I think a fridge was the first thing on his list. He understands now and also, loves cats... He says no wonder the family cat was unfriendly and aloof - it was rarely allowed in the house and was locked in the laundry at night...he was always being told not to touch the cat, it was dirty. (it used to roll about in the compost heap & garden) No wonder the cat was unfriendly and aloof... Now back to my rocking chair and knitting....I'm joking - I don't have a rocking chair and I can't knit!

My husband and I are both 29. I actually thought about children when I was in my early 20s, but maybe for like a milisecond. Then it just evolved into me honestly not thinking about it. So I guess I have no passion in my life for children. That happened about 3 years ago. My husband will do pretty much whatever I say, and he married me for me and no other reason. He never married me with the urge to have kids, but just to be with me. I only think about it whenever some person with no class asks when we will have kids. Other than that it never crosses my mind.

I am 27, DH is 29.
I have been decidedly CF since right after we got married, but I've never wanted kids. I wanted to adopt since I was 12, but I think that was like, since I HAVE to have kids, I'd rather help out kids than have my own.
I think I am slowly turning DH into CF. He is slowly starting to realize that our entire lives will change ...
Also, you can' beat sitting on the couch snuggled up with your two puppies! My heart is about to melt right now ...

I say that all the time. I think back to my mom and aunts when they were my age and they seem so old. Shoot, I would have a child in high school by now???? OMG!!!

Hi, I'm 28.
Kinder and LSUTiger, I know exactly what you mean about getting all mushy with animals. Somehow kids do nothing for me...I usually just pass them by without saying much. But, you put a cute little animal in front of me, and I'll act like a fool! ha ha

I'm 37 and he's 34. I figured out children were optional during childhood and proclaimed I wasn't having any during pre-adolescence. I was told so often I'd change my mind that I assumed there was a kernel of truth there; I did change my mind about onions, maybe kids were next? It hasn't happened, though. I asked dh when he knew he didn't want kids and he said he's always known.

Deborah49, I'm a cat mom too. My dh had never been around cats before we married. He now has a cat on his lap every night while he works at the computer. Happy Birthday!

Wow, I'm the youngun of the group. I'm 20, almost 21. Of course, because of my young age, I hear "oh you'll change your mind" from almost everybody I encounter. Several girls my age or younger are pregnant and NO ONE questions their decision to have a child. They think it's great. But when I say I don't want kids, I get poo-pooed an insane amount.
