Hi!
Are you having a Super Bowl get together at your place?

Just curious - Are you serving wine or beer?

O.K. the cat's out of the bag. On Super Bowl Sunday, for me, it was neither beer nor wine. It was margaritas. I start with a can of Barcardi Margarita mix and empty it into the blender, then I fill the can almost to the top with Jose Cuervo Gold tequila. I squeeze 1 1/2 limes (and save the remaining half lime for later) into the blender and add two shots of Triple Sec and two shots of Grand Marnier. I add 1/2 can water and fill the blender up with ice. I mix at the highest speed for about three minutes. With the 1/2 lime that is left over, I cut it in half again so I have a quarter of lime wedge. I make a small cut in the lime and run the lime around the glass rim and then invert the glass and twist it in kosher salt so that the rim is now salted. I have a ceramic margarita salt dish that I use for this step. I take the lime wedge and squeeze it into the glass and pour the iced margarita mixture into the glass. It will make about 8 glasses. O.K. I came clean and now I feel better.

I went with beer on this one. The superbowl always feels like more of a beer occasion to me.

I started off with a nice vintage miller lite and concluded the evening with yuengling lager from a wonderful appellation in Pennsylvania.

Beer for the Super Bowl is my favorite. But we do it every year, do you know what I mean? It was time to break the mold. We had a big batch of home made chili and Jose was sitting in the closet. So we invited him to be with us and we all had a good time. What are you doing for Valentine's Day? Something special that you can share?
