I just forwarded this to my DH at work. I can't even believe someone would do that. I know I am incredibly evil and I shouldn't laugh, but I have to be honest (I did laugh just a little). I know I am terrible. It just seems so unreal that someone would actually do that.

I want to know why the driver was charged with child abuse when the mother of the child was in the back seat with her own child?!?

Maybe the driver was charged because it was her car, and she's responsible for what goes on in her vehicle? I don't know....

I've seat-belted a vase of flowers in the car before (so that they don't tip over) but then I don't have to worry about a child, then, either.

Works well, too. smile

Reminds me of the joke about the westies from Auckland ... if the car has a bench seat in the front, and you have to fit the girlfriend, the rottweiler amd a case of beer in the car, who doesn't get a seatbelt???

Duh! The girlfriend, of course. Because God forbid that anything should happen to the Rottweiler or the beer ...

The news clip that I read made no mention of anyone being in the back seat other than the one year old baby. Can you post a link to the article with mention of another adult being in the back seat?

It also didn't indicate whether the child was the driver's or not. One person speculated that the reason the beer was belted was because the car would alert that there was an un-belted passenger for the length of the trip without it. No good reason for not having the baby in a safety seat, though.
